We appreciate the nice review. In the late 1930's the motto of the restaurant was " The priceless ingredient of our food is love." We still try to adhere to this motto. Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Based on the reviews I thought it would have been a better experience. The pros are that the food was very good. There must have been a mix-up with service staff. We waiting about 10 minutes before a waitress noticed and took our drink order....More

I am very sorry that you were unhappy with your visit to our restaurant. During this time of year we add a few servers for the December rush. This weekend we experienced lots more business than expected. This is not an excuse for a subpar...More

We ate here after a workshop in town. I had called to make a reservation but we were not on the books when we arrived. However, the host quickly sat our party of 8 which included a birthday gal. Our server was awesome (Nina?) -...More

Thanks for the great review. I will tell the server how happy you were. Schnitzel is a long time favorite meal on Fort Street. The giant pretzels are not only delicious but fun to share with one another. Sprouts, once the most reviled vegetable have...More

Came here with my in-laws. Word to the wise: if you don't like where you're seated...ask for a different seat. This is a large restaurant, and unlikely to ever be filled, given the almost total lack of people visiting downtown Springfield MA. Very unfortunate as...More

We appreciate your review, Jake. We and most establishments are happy to give you a table to your liking, unless the establishment is packed, which does happen from time to time. The city is not as it once was, but good things are taking place,...More

We stopped on the way back from Smith College in Northampton. Our last stop here was four years ago. Not much has changed, Beer steins line the walls as do cases of wine openers. All good fun. The lunch group has many businessmen. Service was...More

Thanks for your review, Allen. We have been serving lunch since 1935, and the faces change and ties are becoming rare, but generations of customers enjoy the establishment. There is always something new to see. I am sorry that your meal had some problems and...More

We stumbled upon this restaurant, thanks to Tripadvisor, during a 1 night stay in Springfield. We were warmly greeted by the host at the front door and enjoyed large portions of delicious sausages/wursts, fried Camembert (yum!), and boots full of beer. The restaurant is old,...More

The menu has a good amount of German style choices with some good old favorites. I had their famous Boston Scrod which came in a large portion with two sides. Most of their items are large and tasty. Their desserts are not so large but...More

Thanks for your nice review. Scrod is a classic New England dish, a nice of fish broiled with some bread crumbs. It always ranks in first or second place in our sales. The other favorite is Wiener Schnitzel. Our free valet parking is very popular...More

Gracemarie, Thanks for the nice words. Jeff, a long time veteran, does a great job! Prime rib is served on Friday and Saturday evenings and is delicious, and usually sells out. We hope to see you on Fort Street!
