My wife and I went there for Sunday Brunch. We thought it was very good. Lots and lots of choices in food. I've been to more extensive more expensive brunches, but for the money I thought it was good. Salmon, roast beef, ham, shrimp, chicken,...More

Had a great time listening to Sounds from around the world by Fernando Santafe at the Westin at the River walk. His show is a must see if you are ever in town.

Context: I absolutely LOVE an extravagant, lavish brunch buffet, and when I was invited to be a guest at the Menger Hotel brunch I was positive it would be amazing. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. The range of selections was somewhat...More

The food took an hour, the white wine sauce was vinegar, my shrimp tasted faintly of bleach, and the salad, bread, and dressings were what I buy at my local Target. The ceiling is dirty, the decor is limp (aged, not antique). It's really sad...More

No matter when you go to the Colonial Room you are welcomed as part of the family. There is a sense of real comfort here and their food selections, preparations and presentations are always first class.

We dined here for the breakfast buffet on a weekday morning, arriving around 8am and was seated immediately. Here we found the typical breakfast items, fruit, pastries, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, grits, etc. What made this breakfast buffet excel above all others was the omelet bar,...More

Only visited the buffet (and at breakfast), so can not speak to the menu. The service is very good. Located at the south end of the Menger.

We had breakfast one morning in the Colonial Room. They offer a buffet or you can order off of the menu. We both choose the buffet. Lots of different choices and it was all really good. The fruit was especially fresh. Our service was excellent!...More

In the Menger Hotel, small but really good. Two evenings, three mornings, all breakfast foods very good and unusually good coffee. Dinners were schnitzels and beef, all four entrees very good and prepared to order (an unusual occurrence in today's world) Steaks as good or...More

Hello. The Colonial Room does not serve American colonial food. I would categorize the menu as continental cuisine. I imagine the term "colonial" refers to the fact that Texas was colonized by Americans when it was still... More

Description
Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.
