We live in South Texas....we know Mexican food, to some degree. La Fogata has been a 'word' used in and out of my circles for years, so it was time to give it a go. Overall, I must say the service and customer service is poor at best. Waitstaff were rude. Host staff, removed and unfriendly. There was no part... More

We had a great evening with some really good food and wonderful service. The restaurant reminds me of Joe T Garcia's (the landmark Mexican food restaurant in Fort Worth) with actual menu options. The service was really good, the mariachi band needs a bit of practice, but the food was great. Several of us had the Un Poquito de Todo... More

Visited recently and ordered the "un poquito de todo" plate. Got to say the flauta was really good, the enchilada nice but it's not Mexican authentic (as you can read in other of my reviews I'm way too judgmental on Mexican restaurants out of Mexico... common' I can be!). The taco was quite big served which is ok, and the... More

Fantastic Place with multiple fountains, neon lights, plants all over the place (feels like a tranquil garden in the city). Food is fantastic. Full of locals. Even a Daiquiri bar for those waiting to be seated. Mariachi music played in evenings. One of a Kind and a Must for the visitor and local.

Although a little out of the "main stream" in San Antonio - the La Fogata tucked away on Vance Jackson Road is a good, authentic mexican restaurant with very good service. Dining on the patio at 5:45PM was an excellent experience. Even though it was a Wednesday night, it got a bit crowded by the time we left at 7:45PM.... More

I've always loved the patios and fountain at La Fogata. I remember eating here as a child and thought it would be fun to take my daughters when we were in town last weekend. It was my youngest daughters 16th bday and the hostess noticed her pin and told her happy birthday as she seated us. It took a while... More

This was the second time I've frequented the restaurant; the first was when friend's held their after wedding dinner where the restaurant staff did an outstanding job of keeping everyone fed and drink in hand, not a small feat with our crowd. This past time was no exception, our server, Rebecca, did a great job of providing us options for... More

This place was close to the hotel I was staying in. I was mildly surprised by the facility. It is rather interesting - great outdoor patio and ok interior. It isn't in a great location but it was worth the visit. Food and service was typical - nothing special.

We went there as a larger group for dinner. This older restaurant was decorated with antique doors (1800s) which were nice to experience. The menu was lengthy and the food was very good. I had a salad (with palm hearts!) with chicken. The chicken was a bit too well done and chewy. Service was exceptional. No tamales!

We were staying downtown and someone suggest La Fogata so we gave it a try It was a long costly taxi ride to get there and back, if I had the choice I would not travel this far to eat at this restaurant next time The area that the restaurant is in is a little sketchy and seeing an armed... More
