Schilo's is our go to place for breakfast whenever we are in San Antonio. Good decent food and great service at a reasonable price.

There was always a line to get in, so we had high expectations. The reality is, the sandwiches are thin (bread is thicker than meat), the sauerkraut was weak, the hot food was lukewarm and overall it was simply an OK deli. The homemade root beer was excellent, however.

If you are hungry for a Rueben sandwich this is the place to go. It has one of the best Rueben sandwiches in San Antonio. While you are there order a glass of root beer - oh so good. Pair the corned beef sandwich with a cup of split pea soup, and it's a great day to explore the Riverwalk... More

Maybe this place was here when Davy Crockett was? Not sure, but I remember it from 1962. Sort of like Alice's Restaurant, you can get anything you want... from hamburgers to actually deli food. The place reeks of history, and you'll enjoy the photos and signs that maybe were hung here new. We recommend the cheesecake to end any perfect... More

After several days of touristy breakfasts, the next choice was Mc D's . We looked down the street at this building that stood out from the cookie cutter restaurants on the Riverwalk. It was a Deli that looked like it was straight out of 1940's NYC. Upon entering, that look was confirmed. There were wooden tables and booths, high ceilings... More

Just a great place with volumes of homemade food you seldom find in restaurants. This is a pure local place with very inexpensive food items, primarily German entrees but plenty of other items to please everyone. If you are in the riverwalk area, do not miss this place.

We stumbled on this place after a few days in San Antonio. After a couple of meals in the typical Riverside , overpriced , mediocre quality foods establishments it was refreshing to find this honest to goodness diner. The waitresses were very busy as the place was full at 7:45 pm , but no one went unserved or without attention.... More

Good potato pancakes as stated in previous posts. Nice waiter, bad service - one waiter was yelling and quit- walked out while we were waiting in the frozen tundra for our cold food - except pancakes.
