Truly a rare find these days...a superb meal with excellent service. We arrived slightly before our 630pm Friday reservations and were seated immediately. The dining room was empty, but there was a crowd in the bar area. Our server, Megan, was friendly and very professional and we quickly noted that she cared about her customers. We selected from the various... More

Always a favorite, consistently excellent. On my last review I criticized the casual dress of the maitre’d and the informal service, but this time everything was superior. We went on restaurant night where establishments all around San Antonio have special menus for special fixed prices. We were happy to find Frederick’s participating. Here, it was three courses for $35. A... More

Frederick's Bistro offers a really great quiet 'Happy Hour' that runs till 8:00PM. Good wines at $6.50 per pour and a nice list of 'Happy Hour' small plates, served on white tablecloths in the bar. I think the mussels are the best I have had outside of Scotland, and certainly the best in San Antonio.

My husband and I visited for early dinner. We didn't know it was fine dining, and were delighted with the white table cloths, beautiful glassware. Service was good. Food was beyond excellent. We were not planning to spend what we did that night, but we had the best duck dish ever, better than duck dishes we had in Italy. Vegetables... More

We have dined here numerous times over the last 4 years and, generally like the experience. When they are on , and the kitchen and dining are in sync, they can produce a nice evening. But when they are off, its horrible. Due to the good times we have overlooked the mediocre, BUT our Xmas Eve dinner was truly a... More

Many restaurants in San Antonio are located in strip malls. Unassuming from the outside, this one is very posh on the inside. Frederick, the owner, welcomed us in at the front door. He kissed my hand (nice touch) as he introduced himself to my husband and me. Seated at a requisite round table for eight, I enjoyed a cold, crisp... More

This place has great food in the main restaurant, but the best part is the happy hour. It's every day from 4-8 pm. Nicely priced wine and drinks, great bar food, and if you want more upscale you can order from the main menu which I highly recommend. The service is usually very good; we were there last night and... More

Friendly, prompt service, varied menu, and everything is delicious. Salads are inventive and there's an extensive , affordable wine list.Another plus is that its not overly loud so one can have a conversation.

Description
Frederick Costa, the Owner of Frederick's Bistro was raised in an environment of wonderful food and hospitality. Growing up in both in Indochina and France, his parents, Henri and Odette owned highly acclaimed gourmet restaurants in both countries. As a young man he not only learned the secrets of French and Asian cuisine's, but also the true meaning of hospitality and customer service. Customers of Frederick's Bistro will say that visiting the restaurant is like walking into your best friend's home. You feel completely welcomed and special on every visit.

After working in the family restaurants for many years, Frederick sought formal training at the Flo Brasserie in Paris. From there he came to the United States and to San Antonio in 1984. In 1985 he opened the very popular L'Etoile restaurant. After several years with L'Etoile, Frederick sought to blend the flavors and diverse cultures of the lands he grew up in. His parents operated both French and Indochinese restaurants and the fusion of both cuisines intrigued him. In 2000, he opened Frederick's Restaurant in Alamo Heights and in 2008 Frederick's Bistro in Northwest San Antonio. The results are dining experiences that have become legendary for area residents and visitors.

You and your guests will truly experience fine dining at Frederick's Bistro in San Antonio. At Frederick's Bistro we offer a wide variety of gourmet dishes and an exquisite selection of wines and beverages. In addition to the wonderful cuisine, you will experience the service that is uniquely Frederick's. Be it lunch or dinner, your dining experience at Frederick's Bistro will be one that you are not soon to forget.
