this is a real gem...hidden away in Marana but even if it wasn't nearby would be worth a detour. The secret to me is in the baking: the chips, empenada pastry,,shells ,etc.are the best.Tucson is totally awash in chain restaurants(not just Mexican, either)so what a refreshing change this family place is!

The Mexican food here is great and the calabecitas (sp?) are the best ever. But you haven't experienced their prize-winning delight - cheesecake. The owner bakes up her own desires and comes up with a wide variation of cheesecakes! Not cheap, but worth it. Their prices are mid-range unless you can get there before 4 pm when you will be... This is the first Mexican restaurant in Tucson that we have eaten at where the food is not bland. We are use to having green chili served with all dishes but outside of New Mexico that is hard to find and when we do it is so mild that there is no flavor. At La Olla their food is flavorful.... We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table and we understood why once we finished eating. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient. The restaurant is quite loud when at capacity so don't expect a quiet ambience. We ate at many Mexican restaurants during our long stay in... More

Fresh, tasty food. Great service. Wonderful Margaritas. There were a lot of locals eating there...always a good sign.

I have vacationed in Tucson a dozen or so times, and I have a regular rotation of nice Mexican restaurants that I frequent. This year I vowed to find a few new family owned cafes. La Olla was a bit west of my normal Foothills locations, but based on what I read, I had a good feeling about it. It... More

The quality and style of Mexican fare is both unusual and very high quality. Excellent service and great prices. This was third visit over two years, menu invites you back to try something new. Best calabacitas ever.

A group of 8 of us met here for dinner. Took a very long time to get water and other drinks and a long time to order. This is a small restaurant, very very noisy when crowded. Nice subdued lighting, however. I did enjoy my dinner which was the chicken stacked chimi, spicy and good. Took a long time to... More

We got there just as the sun was setting behind Sombrero Mt on our last night in Tucson! What a beautiful sight. It was busy but we were seated quickly. The service was great as was the food. Even my husband, who isn't fond of Mexican food, enjoyed it. Wonderful margaritas and mojitos.

Browsing through the restaurant.com deals, I saw very good reviews for this north Tucson eatery. It seemed like it was worth a try, and that was a good decision. The food here is fancier -- and tastier -- than your typical rice, beans and tortilla Mexican restaurant in Tucson. Try the chicken tortilla soup, and whatever the waitress recommends. Very... More
