Bunch here on Friday with the wife. Breakfast was solid; Dixie omelette was great. Eggs, collards, cheese over grits was outstanding. Corn cake was fun, not sweet. Stewed apples were great, no or little added sugar! Busy place. Overall a winner.

It had been years since I had been back to The Dixie. I have now been 2 times in 6 days! The staff is warm and welcoming. They quickly learn your likes and preferences. The biscuits are the absolute best I have ever had. Pancakes...More

Per the recommendation of the server, added Swiss Cheese to a Bologna Burger. Normally comes with American. Great advice. Grilled onions made the sandwich over the top delicious.

Another find via google maps. Staff seemed friendly and hospitable. The food was good too. Had chicken fingers and fries. Basic stuff. Atmosphere is decent in size with standard diner booths. Closes at 3p so be sure to come before then. Service is pretty quick....More

We ordered the pickle fries and they were excellent! Our waitress was super nice. The booths were a bit lumpy and uncomfortable. Sit at a table instead. Good food at a great price!

We love places like this that have such a wonderful history. I like the original section, but they do have a nice covered patio. Not for the faint at heart: We got a bologna burger, red hot dog and a corn cake. Plenty of locals...More

It is a rare treat for me to see liver and onions on the menu so I seized the opportunity to try one of my faves. I wondered if I was going to have a gristly piece of beef liver on my plate, but was...More

We wanted to have brunch somewhere different, somewhere with good food, good service and local flavor. We found it at the Dixie. The restaurant is small, tight seating and hard to get in restrooms. The prices are reasonable, breakfast served till 11am on Saturdays. We...More

Description
The Dixie is a landmark breakfast and lunch establishment in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg since the 1920s and in it's current location since 1939. It has seen several owners over the years and remains a local favorite. We specialize in traditional southern cuisine. Our menu items include our famous Dixie Dog which is a red hot dog with mustard, onions and our tasty chili sauce. We also serve fried Salt Herring, Salmon Croquettes, Meatloaf, Chicken & Dumplings, made from scratch Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad. We offer a variety of sandwiches, barbeque, burgers and hot-plate specials that change daily.
