There is a Happy Hour every day from 3-7 pm and that is the time to go. All sushi is half priced along with other appetizers at good prices. Well drinks are only $2. I had a crunchy California roll, normally $10, but only paid $5. Crab, avocado,kimchi and then lightly fried in a tempura coating. Served with wasabi and... More

We stopped here for dinner our first night in town. There was a little bit of a wait but well worth it. We had crab cake sliders with jalapeno hushpuppies with jalapeno jelly. A must have for sure! We had potato skins for appetizers and they were not the usually small ones you get at other places. So delicious!

We were a party of four on a Friday night. We waited 30 minutes for a table and enjoyed drinks at the bar. Twice we were pressured to order food at the bar by a female bartender who told us the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes at 9pm. After the 2nd time of her pressuring us, I went to... More

Very slow service. We sat outside no one acknowledged us for 15 minutes. Oysters were bad so manager brought new order but those had cocktail sauce in the shells so basically gave us same ones. Other food was good but afraid I'm gonna get sick from oysters

We really enjoyed our dinner. The food and service was excellent. There was live music which made for a festive environment. Fried pickles with ranch dip we're tasty! Loved the Cajun shrimp tacos and my husband thought the sushi was really good. We actually came back for a second visit.

Our first visit here, initially had a great first impression, but then service was not good. Perhaps we had a new waiter, at first very attentive, took our drink and appetizer order. He brought our drinks, then we waited. Another server brought out our main entree before our appetizers. We weren't even finished eating then the waiter asked twice if... More

I live near Scuttlebutts and go there occationally. They have a very large menu to satisfy every taste. It is reasonably priced and service is pretty good. Don't expect fantastic food, its pretty average. The place has a large bar and lotsa beers. Live music sometimes. Gets very crowded with a drinking crowd on Friday and Saturday evenings.

We visited on a Friday night around 9. This definitely has more of a "bar" than "grill" feel - the restaurant was full even though it was after the normal dinner hour and they had a singer inside performing on a small stage. We only a few minutes for a seat at a small table with bar seats (no backs).... More

I just returned from my annual week on Padre Island and was amazed at the changes in the past year. After sampling many of the Island's offerings, my friends and I settled on Scuttlebutts as the best food for the price. We originally were seeking oysters on the half shell but found a huge variety of other favorites which just... More

Description
The number one question asked is “What does Scuttlebutt’s mean?” Well, we answer, The original context came from two nautical terms; the “butt” (picture a wooden keg) was a wooden cask that stored the fresh water when sailors were at sea. The “scuttle” was the area of the ship where the “butt” was stored. When it was break time, the sailors would gather at the “Scuttle Butt” and drink. This also became a social time, as they could all meet and talk. Now over the years the words joined together and became “scuttlebutt”. This word was used when people would gather together, typically at the office water fountain, and ask one another, “Hey, what’s the scuttlebutt with Jim in accounting?”

Here is the official definition according to Meriam Webster;

1a : a cask on shipboard to contain freshwater for a day's use

2b: a drinking fountain on a ship or at a naval or marine installation

2: rumor, gossip.

Now that you know what Scuttlebutt’s means, this is what we are about! Scuttlebutt’s is a full service restaurant and bar that truly is a place where everyone, from babies to baby-boomers, can get together and have a great time! Our menu is as equally diverse, with grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwiches, hand-cut rib eye steaks, oysters on the half shell and one of the best sushi bars around. Our premium craft beer wall and wine selection is top rated, and make sure to try our house made sangria or our signature Scuttlebutt’s punch. We are a scratch kitchen and our day starts in the wee-early mornings when the hard-working prep team arrives to bust out our house recipes. Another appeal to Scuttlebutt’s is that we offer Happy Hour every day (Yes, week-ends too!) from 3pm-7pm and we have live music every night (Yes, really, every night – unless the Dallas Cowboys are playing). We can easily accommodate larger groups as well as be the perfect spot for date night, which has turned into a marriage proposal on more than one occasion. Call ahead seating is available and we can help plan a perfect office party or celebration with custom menu options. Come visit us and become part of our Scuttle Family!
