Dinner was a mixed bag. I had the corned beef and cabbage and it was average, beef stroganoff was average, but pasta dishes were excellent.

My husband and I had a delicious brunch here. The restaurant is comfortably casual with an open kitchen. It was nice to get a preview of the food coming out of the kitchen to help make a decision about what to order. My husband had...the ricotta French toast with fresh fruit and I had the hamburger. The French toast comes with four large pieces perfectly done. There was ample fresh fruit and ricotta. The burger had carmelized onions, fresh lettuce and a delicious duck fat aioli. The burger was served with a fresh arugula salad. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. I would definitely eat here again. The prices were very reasonable.More
The food was outstanding. We were jet lagged and showed up before they were officially open. They gave us water and let us hang in the lobby until opening. Everything was delicious!!
We came in from out of town and we’re staying at the Marriott. The valet recommended it and told us to get the beef stoganoff. Haven’t had this since a kid and wasn’t sure, but it was incredible. My wife and I split the stroganoff...and the salmon and it was fabulous. Highly recommend.More
Bustling with activity, with Sundance film screenings at the theater next door, we had a short wait and fresh and filling salads. Try the ricotta dumplings!
Good casual food located next to the Broadway Centre Cinemas operated by SLC Film Society. I imagine many cinema goers eat here before or after a show. We had the Copper Onion Burger and the Beef Stroganoff. The burger was very good. But, the fries...were soggy - maybe reheated? The Stroganoff was tasty but nothing like the recipe or taste I grew up with. It consisted of some small beef pieces with mushrooms on Pappardelle pasta and a cream sauce. I like to order dishes that would have difficulty making. But, in terms of taste the Beef Stroganoff was something I could have knocked up myself. For dessert, we shared a fruit tart/crumble with a little dab of vanilla ice cream. It was ok. I think most people come here to drink. We'd order the burger again, but nothing else. Service was ok. All in all an above average eatery. Convenient to the movie theater.More
We came here for my first time after wanting to come here for years. Came for a very special anniversary which was communicated, & they were even less attentive than you’d expect for just normal service walking into somewhere. Made a reservation & it’s almost...like it took longer. We ordered our appetizer & dinner & the appetizer took over 40 + mins to even come out then even longer for our meals when tables nearby had things come out quickly. Understandable with communication but we felt ignored. Not checked on, had to actually wave down our waitress & most the time she was busy talking to coworkers. Drink ran out entirely mid meal, wasn’t offered or asked about a refill at any point. Didn’t ask us about dessert until a while after we had finished everything. Would have ordered dessert happily as again, it was a special anniversary and we really wanted dessert, but feared that since we weren’t even given the option until all was said & done & no offer for a refill on drink plus the time it took for all else combined with lack of attention/service, we didn’t want to sit & wait another full hour or more nor spend another penny here. Unsure if it was because we were sat in the very corner, but tables right next to us seemed to get faster, more attentive service so I don’t think so. Overall we had a great anniversary besides my spouse feeling bad for even making a reservation here which is not okay, so it is really unfortunate & sad that this experience which should have been a good one, took from that. When looking back on this anniversary, I’ll definitely remember the poor service & lack of getting to celebrate as it didn’t seem to matter. Even if just the notes were overlooked (why ask if there’s a special occasion if it’s going to be ignored?), it was still below par. Again, food is alright but not good enough to tolerate how we were treated. Won’t be returning due to everything else. Would put 0 stars if possible. Waitresses name started with an M. It left such a bad taste in our mouths that I actually wanted to ensure no one else comes here for a special event only for it to be ruined/ignored. Was able to sit and leave this entire review at the table in between the time we asked for our check & the time it took just to even pay to leave. Disappointed. I also typically don’t leave reviews but again don’t want anyone else to come here for a special occasion or any occasion for that matter to spend money and be treated this way. Edit to add I did speak with a manager whose name also started with an M, she was very kind, apologetic & asked if there was anything they could do to make it up but unfortunately we wanted to leave as soon as we could & you can’t really go back in time to a special day so nothing will really make that up. Please pay attention to your paying customers.More
Highly recommend by a friend and it exceeded our expectations. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and drinks. We got the house bread, papatas bravas, carbonara and Steak Frites. This was the best meal we had in Salt Lake, highly recommended
A 2012 "Best New Chef" winner, Ryan Lowder's Copper Onion offers dinner daily, lunch on weekdays and brunch on the weekend with each menu slightly different but the overall theme squarely “New American.” Part of larger concept in downtown Salt Lake City, the streets nearby...offering free parking for those who don’t mind strolling past vagrants to skip the meters, greetings were offered by an oddly casual young man who confirmed a reservation before handing guests off to servers who define laissez-faire. Trained with Jean Georges then Mario Batali, Lowder's “signatures” denoted, three plates including one special were served in progression beginning with luke-warm Ricotta Dumplings that melt in the mouth beneath assertive Citrus mellowed by Thyme. Next receiving Duck Confit Poutine, a Canadian classic updated by hand-cut Fries and aromatic Gravy blending Fowl with Mushrooms, French Toast unfortunately ate like that of a typical Diner instead of crispy over Custard like versions served at other upscale eateries.More
Loved the food and the casual ambiance. We sat at the “cooks” counter and experienced great interaction with the chefs. Casual place with great food. Especially the Pork Chop with a fried egg and the Salmon (with pineapple chutney)
Came here last year and really liked the food and atmosphere. Had to come back this year. The kitchen does a great job of plate presentation and overall on food execution. I came back for the Huevos Rancheros. My son for the Steak and Eggs....(See photos). The Huevos Rancheros May be the best I’ve ever had! Pulled pork and red sauce is on point with this dish. Also ordered Lemon Ricotta French Toast with Berries. Really tasty, however, why can’t kitchens/Chefs figure this one simple rule out about French Toast or Pancakes???? Serve with Warm Syrup!!!!! You go to all the trouble to prepare a nice dish and you don’t finish!!! Warm Syrup takes any dish to another level. It’s freakin’ simple!! So I asked my server for warm syrup and she acted like I was from another planet……brought out what she said was warm syrup, it was “Ice Cold”! Oh well. I still think this place is a great choice for a better than average meal. Try it out, it’s worth the effort. Now if only the kitchen manager or Chef reads my review and heats up their syrup pre opening. Then they get a 5th Star……More
For the most busiest times reservation recommended, though managed to get table on Saturday 0830pm without it but was alone. Good stuff with superb service and smiles. Menu is kinda short and based on Italian dishes with some exceptions & twist. Food was really good...with tastes well balanced, superb french fries! Definitely place to return when around!More
Had a great dinner here on a Friday night before the holiday weekend. Started with the roasted Wagyu marrow. It is unusual to find it on a menu and these folks know how to do it well. The parsley salad accompaniment was just the right...contrast to the marrow. We had an order of the sautéed brussels sprouts as an accompaniment. For the main course we had the Cast Iron Mary's Chicken. It was flavorful; especially the kale. An order of the Wagyu Stroganoff was outstanding. It had a lighter touch with the sauce using creme fraiche. The beef was tender and had a real depth of flavor. The noodles absorbed the sauce for a perfect dish. I especially appreciated their approach to Stroganoff. Our server was outstanding and obviously knowledgeable about the menu.More
We had a very nice dinner here. We focused on appetizers. The ricotta dumplings were delicious but the carrots were way too oily. In fact, that is my main complaint. All of the food would have been better with less oil. The bread they serve...(with burrata I think) was fantastic! It was chewy but soft and substantial! Desserts were hit and miss. The chocolate pudding was very good with a hint of sea salt. The strawberry shortcake was pretty bad. It was served with a refreshing lemon sauce but the cake itself was super dry.More
We ate lunch here before heading to the airport and we’re not disappointed. The French dip was good. My husband said it had the best provolone on it he had ever had!!! And the fries will not disappoint if you like garlic. Our server was...fantastic!! We sat at the chefs table and the chef even checked in to see how our meal was. Drinks were great too!!More
