Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fine dining in a beautiful setting, warm cozy stone building with such a lovely interior & great atmosphere. The waitresses were friendly and service was great. We could watch the chefs at work which we enjoy. The meals were absolutely delicious, well presented and great...portion sizes. The desserts were gorgeous too.More

We had two dinners at Olivers Restaurant, and were very happy with both. The food was very good - large portions, and tasty. The staff were excellent - we received timely and friendly service, and we felt that we were in a homey, welcoming environment....We would happily return here for another meal.More

Oliver’s restaurant is fine dining and a lovely setting, you can see the chefs at work which I like, there were no tantrums in that kitchen! The chefs worked quickly and efficiently, we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Excellent service and superb...food. Maybe a little pricey but worth it if that’s your thing.More

Beautiful food and great service in a nice historic setting. Totally recommend trying it out to get New Zealand food, wine and beer at their best.

I have heard for years about Oliver’s being a must. Unfortunately our experience was a bit average and I’m not sure it lives up to the hype. Expensive, although the decent quality combined with the huge portions makes it reasonably priced (we are used to...UK prices/portions). The issue was with the lack of attention to detail by the wait staff, as a dish we requested to be made meat/dairy free was brought out with bacon on it. For a restaurant with such a great reputation, it was a blue that just shouldn’t have happened.More

A lovely night out, enjoy sitting and watching the kitchen at work. The two guys worked seemlessly together and the food was delivered quickly but not to rush us. Quality of the venison was amazing. Never disappointed.

Waited quite a while for a menu to arrive. Limited vegetarian options and soooo expensive. Over $40 for a main! Service OK, but for the price would have expected a bit more from this very expensive restaurant.

My wife and I took a bus tour of your beautiful country - New Zealand. We were a group of 30 - not easy to accommodate all at once! All we knew was that we were stopping for lunch in Clyde. We did not anticipate...that we would have the best meal of our trip there! Olivers hits all the buttons: Good location, charming space, good service and excellent food! We sat in a large open room close to the street. There was a large open window into the kitchen where we could see the kitchen staff earnestly preparing food. There was a large fireplace that is probably put to good use during the winter (while we were there it was unnecessary). The building is made of stone and the stone walls are exposed. It gives one the sense that the walls have sopped up a lot of laughter, perhaps some sadness and a lot of history that it wishes it could share! I had mushroom risotto with chicken. It was delicious! The rice was full of flavor. The pieces of chicken were enormous and there were lots of them. I think the chicken was brined because subtle flavors were in each chicken bite! Also, the portion would have been large for dinner but it was gigantic for lunch! In addition to the risotto, there was a fresh green salad and wonderful fresh bread! And dessert! It stressed my willpower and my willpower crumbled! As you might imagine, the service was excellent! Lunch came with an alcoholic beverage and the bartender made a special effort to help each diner find the right glass of wine or beer or non-alcoholic beverage. The staff who provided table service were equally attentive! Everyone smiled and seemed to be glad that we were there. A return trip to Olivers will take a lot of effort for me! I just envy those who live closer and can visit regularly!More

Very nice, BUT, the steak was tough!! Not what you'd expect from such a smart place. My fish was lovely and the friend who ordered the pasta enjoyed that.

Visited Oliver’s for a night plus dinner again. Haven’t been there is years. Accommodation in stone rooms outside are outstanding and beds cosy and rooms are spacious and decorated. Amazing with wee bath in the room !!! Very cool. Brilliant good food and cocktails. Like...a bnb but way classier. Worth it to upgrade to the larger rooms. Lovely touches with old world features. Good for a night or few days. Romantic for couples. Good with friends with cafes around and pub nearby. Rooms in the house are elegant or outside for old world charm. Courtyard available for drinks or dinner or cafe attached and bar. All night kitchen open for a cuppa. The big Houses splendid for lots of friends and breakfast was outstanding. Not a thing negative from me ! Restaurant was well catered for And meal was delicious.More

We had dinner here during our stay in Clyde. We wanted to sit for a while and have a slow dinner and the wait staff were very accommodating. There was no rush to put our order through to the kitchen so we could sit and...relax, drink our wine with our bread and dips. Our meal was a generous portion and beautifully cooked and seasoned. I would highly recommend eating here.More

The restaurant doesn't have its own accommodation. However, Oliver's store/accommodation is next door and owned by the same people. Check their listing on Trip advisor.
