We have been coming here for years and always had lovely friendly service. Something has changed. Today the corn fritter was burnt. Sponge cake was hard and dry. When we politely returned the sponge cake, we got a frosty response and rather than, would you like to try something else, she just gave my money back. Try the Old Mill... More

We ordered our food hard to not order the pavlova & vanilla slice oozing with custard and cream, somebody please stop me! we have a fun family lunch here and sat in the beautiful garden and enjoyed a fresh chicken salad, the kids had pies, sandwiches, and then of course the dessert, it was absolutely fabulous... we stopped for lunch on our way to Whitianga. This cafe is in a great setting with park like grounds, plenty of room for the kids to run around. Also good parking especially if towing a boat or trailer. the menu could be a little limited, but still plenty options for adults.

We stopped here for a coffee and cake. Both were excellent and were taken in a beautiful garden orchard. There is also a very interesting shop to wander around.

Idyllic country café. We were taken there by our guide kiwi Dundee. The quality of their simple food was second to none. Above all, sitting outside in an orchard amongst families with children playing freely reflected the ethos of New Zealand.

Awesome little cafe and garden - main issue here is that they have a tiny serving area, so expect long queues at peak times.

We have been to this cafe a lot in the past and loved it, great setting, friendly service and good food however something has changed! Today I went to order and asked for eggs on toast for my daughters friend (a 6 yr old who couldn't find anything else she liked) - so I thought, eggs on toast.. simple enough... More

We have been coming to Colensos since it opened in the 1980's. It is still as great as it ever was. We can honestly say we have never had a bad meal there. The setting is pure relaxation after city life and the gift shop has some wonderful treasures. We were worried if it would go down hill after it... More

Beautiful setting and delicious morning tea. Idillic outdoor tables under old plum trees. Excellent coffee, date scones, and try the (quite sweet) Persian Love Cake:yummy.
