A popular spot to eat and drink on the Artisan Trail, make sure you book a table in peak periods (they mention this on their social media). $10 whiskey tastings (3) includes vodka and liqueur. The guy doing the tastings was a bit run off his feet doing tastings and bar service for the bistro. Great boutique whisky (tad expensive).

Visiting the area and went along for lunch. What an amazing experience. Welcoming staff (best smiles ever). The Governor's tasting platter ( which came with an explanation of the amazing variety of very generous samples of local produce) and an accompanying perfectly chilled bottle of Dinny Goonan Riesling (local). We asked for a pause before our main and it was well timed. Barramundi and not a chip or wilted salad in sight. Perfect vegetables with crispy skin barra pieces. The finale was to wander over to the bar and pay for a tasting of three of their whiskey products. When I purchased my bottle it was refunded. As I write this review I think back on a wonderful experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Fabulous food (we ordered the slow cooked beef and pork bao buns), the waitstaff were friendly and efficient. Coffee liquor milkshake was a bit tasteless. We wanted to try their vodkas and other liquors however could not get service at the bar.

Enjoying a relaxing weekend & trying to support local Victorian tourist trade, we spent the weekend on the Great Ocean Road & the Gourmet Trail. Our visit to Timboon Railway Shed Distillery was soured by poor service, when it came we were asked “what do you want?” We replied what can we have? They had stands with $10 gin/whiskey/rum tasting paddles - we ordered a gin & whiskey ($20) on paying account we were charged $58 because they put a 200ml bottle of tonic & 3 1/2 slices of lemon! when we were leaving we told a member of staff not impressed who only answer was sorry that’s happened. We want to support local but not triple the price without warning - will not be returning.

Our first outing for a few months saw a trip here for lunch. Limited menu due to restricted times but quite enjoyable (albeit small)chefs tasting board. Lovely glass of wine to pair, but it would have been nicer to have felt warm and cosy. Our table was up against the wall of the exterior and it was uncomfortably cold. Just a hint... on a very cold winters day having it inviting and warm is a must. We've been here many times and just felt it lacked atmosphere today. A bit disappointed.

Totally disagree with some reviews. The whiskey is all hand made and barrelled locally. The big suprise is the bouquet (better than saying smell). It tastes just as good. It may be expensive (compared to bulk made inferior single malts) but one sip and your hooked. We also purchased the Vodka (excellent) the Strawberry Schnapps (Very sweet) and a Coffe liquer (gone in the first day). I personally loved the Port Expression, but the Christies cut is truley next level sipping. I think that this by far one of my favourite Drams. Every person that has tried it has said the same - truly unique and full of flavour.

Definitely book ahead if you plan to eat. This will change the friendliness of the staff towards you! We didn’t book and while we were given a table we were made to feel like we were being painful to the staff. The menu is designed for sharing - small quantities of about six dishes. We had the prawns, haloumi, chicken and pork belly. All dishes were beautifully presented and tasted lovely. Dishes averaged $26 each which I think was expensive for what we got. A few of our table enjoyed the whisky tasting paddle which was a great price of $15. The setting is beautiful.

On a recent tour of the western district it was a pleasure to arrive in picturesque Timboon. The Distillery looked the best option in the town for a spot of lunch. However it was a disappointing start as preferred listed dish to which I was looking forward wasn't available and the limited choices remaining were very carnivorous based. Meals were average at best with presentation and accompanying salad and vegetable sides lacking. It was certainly a busy and bustling place, could do better.

Stopped here for lunch. Service was spot on, staff very friendly and helpful. Had caramel and coffee liqueur milkshakes, pork belly and fried chicken for lunch. Hubby loved his pork belly, Crisp Western Plains pork belly, Asian flavoured salad of shoots, papaya & herbs, fried shallots, sticky soy. I couldn't eat all of my fried chicken. Crispy coated, free range chicken pieces, flour tortillas, cos leaves, Korean BBQ sauce, aioli. Very generous serving. Toilets clean and tidy. Sat outside, clean and tidy area, would definitely have lunch there again. Keep up the great work guys :-)

It’s so nice to come across a local niche business that’s a bit different from an ordinary bar. Whisky tasting flights at $30 are available to try this boutique distilleries whiskies . This is refundable if you buy a bottle. You can build your own platter from available produce too. Lovely friendly service and indoor and outdoor seating with a lovely view.

After stumbling onto the Gourmet Trail of the great ocean road, we were excited to head to the Timboon railway shed distillery...and we were not disappointed. It’s nicely laid out with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and happy to chat about the products but also gave space for customers to enjoy their tastings independently. It was fantastic having a ‘placement’ that laid out each tasting, it’s description and the recommended tasting order. As a bonus, when you have a whisky tasting, you get to try a selection of their spirits and liqueurs (also with its own placemat), which was complimentary. We also liked that the placemats were laminated, so they could be cleaned and used again (reducing waste). They do meals also, which looked delicious, but would recommend making a booking. We are looking forward to going again.

Travelled there to try the Whisky, so pleased we made the trip. Lunch was excellent, Mussels in white wine and garlic sauce. The standout was the house made Spelt Sourdough Bread. Would have loved to have b ought a loaf, but for dining only. Staff all very personable and friendly, knowlegable about the products and happy to chat about the place and area.

We went here to sample their well renowned menu. I had the beef pies which were delicious, but my husband was unimpressed with his pork belly on the bao buns. He said they were tasteless and the bus were like uncooked bread! The salad with lettuce, pears, walnuts and cheese was very nice. the setting is lovely and the staff were friendly and service was good

We went to this distillery specifically for the Whisky rather than food. They have an excellent range of local and regional whiskeys and gin. We had a tasting of four of the local whiskeys. They were all superb and the expert review by one of the talented staff was very helpful. I bought one of the cheapest bottles which was still very expensive but you get what you paid for. I now have an excellent whiskey that I won't share with anyone. This place is dog friendly.
