Due to COVID my husband and I missed out on our trip to Paris and the French countryside. We were thrilled when a friend recommended Bistro Molines. The experience started from the moment of arrival.. The hills and vineyards around, the restaurant itself with the...lovely decor, the atmosphere, the quality and presentation of the food, the friendly and professional service made us feel very special. We could have been somewhere in France! Great location for a special occasion or a lovely lunch/dinner for two or more people. We will definitely visit again.More

From the moment we walked in, we knew Easter Sunday lunch at Bistro Molines was going to be special. Greeted with a welcoming smile and directed to our table, we were overwhelmed by the incredible views we were invited to enjoy whilst dining on exquisite...food. The menu offers a range of food, and on the day there was also some specials listed on a blackboard. For lunch, I selected the linguine with pippi’s to start, and rabbit for a main. My partner chose the mussels to start and duck as a main, all these dishes were made with the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection with delicate flavours associated with great French cuisine . Totally full , we had to pass on the delicious looking crème brûlée . If you are in the beautiful Hunter Valley make sure you put Bistro Molines on your to do list.More

We enjoyed a beautiful lunch to celebrate our Uncle’s 80th birthday. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the service. The decor and relaxed atmosphere made the day special and the food was its usual high standard. The complimentary bread and starters were delicious...as was the large French inspired menu. This is a special occasion restaurant just make sure you make every occasion special so you can try everything!!More

Travelling through the Hunter Valley on a Monday gave us limited lunch choices (many places are closed) but we are SO thankful that Bistro Molines was open. The most magnificent long lunch you could ever have! Firstly, there’s the breathtaking view - clear, open vistas...of vineyards and countryside. But then… the food! Beautiful French flavours, generous serves, an extensive menu… and all served with a smile. We really enjoyed the staff’s unhurried approach, which again made lunch such a lovely experience.More

From the second you walk in Sally and Robert and their wonderful staff make you feel at home. Their service is impeccable. The culinary offerings are second to none. The premises are engaging and you instantly fall into a lost world of the French countryside...right in the middle of the Hunter Valley. The menu is impressive in all aspects and offers amazing choices that really challenge your decision making. Try the Molines et Fils 2014 Shiraz too..you'll want to stay forever...More

We went to the long lunch on a friend's recommendation and we are recommending it too. Two hours. The chacciatore plate for entree was enough for two to share - and a dazzle of different cheeses, pickled vegetables, meats and pates and olives. The mains...were beautifully cooked and presented. We enjoyed a Briar Ridge Shiraz with the meal - and were too content to have dessert. Stunning and worthwhile.More

It was my second visit to this place. However, this time was very disappointing. Some food appeared not freshly prepared, some overcooked. Some portions were small, not adequate to adult servings. The duck tasted boiled rather than grilled or roasted (faaaaaar inferior to the way...French do it) simply not tasty - and was served on the untidy bed of reheated or sourced from the jar red cabbage, sprinkled with frozen green peas. I was expecting an extraordinary experience at this extraordinary place ? My biggest disappointment was our desert. Please educate your chef what a CASSATA ice cream really is. It shouldn’t be a slice of a green ordinary block sprinkled with unidentifiable decorations. Also your sugar-loaded complementary meringue deserts were left almost untouched which should give you an indication of their tastes. It was definitely experience not to remember. How sad on my bday :( My husband had the daily special (some sort of a lamb ragout) and was totally unimpressed. Far below our first visit last year…More

Second time back to Molines and it was just as amazing as the first time we ate there. We had a great table outside and every dish was incredible. Special mention to the most incredible service from Stacey staff member who has been there for...10 years. Had worked in the kitchen and on the floor. knowledge of the food and wine was absolutely perfect! Would not have been as good an experience without her! Highly reccomenedMore

On arrival we waited to be seated which was to be expected as we were early, however, the staff did nothing to make us feel welcome or to acknowledge we were early and would be seated shortly which unfortunately was not a great first impression....The staff who served us were fabulous and very attentive. The entrées varied dramatically in size with the majority being more than ample and one rather small and unsatisfying. The main course left a lot to be desired with the meat undercooked and a tad tough. All accompaniments were at an additional cost, but when two courses were $95pp it seemed excessive when the quality wasn't up to par. Sadly it was a lack lustre lunch and one we won't be repeating.More

Hi Liz, I would suggest you call them as I don't remember seeing a specific choice of vegan dishes. Sally is very helpful and I am sure she would arrange something for you.

$23 to $29, for large well-prepared dishes. Mains somewhat dearer. Including wine, we usually expect just over $100 per head, which is close to the taxi fare there and home again from where we live.
