Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the Inn 4 nights in room #5. We had the most comfortable bed and softest sheets ever...the robes provided were equally comfy. We enjoyed the incredible view from our private deck. We loved breakfast on the deck upstairs, everything we ate was delicious! We also had some small plates one afternoon after hiking, and had dinner one evening, everything fresh and flavorful. Service was always friendly and efficient, with a personal feel. The location cannot be better for Muir Woods and Mt Tam hikes...took a hike o Stinson Beach, too!

We loved our experience at the mountain home inn! The views are beautiful and we loved the mountainy feel! We tried the tuna and turkey club sandwiches and LOVED THEM! The portion were plenty and the food came out super fast. The mint water that is served with the meal is excellent. They also have a few beers on tap as well as different bottled beer options. Something on the menu for everyone!

The rooms are a little dated but clean and comfortable. Our room had a fireplace and a balcony. The room was comfortable. Ours didn't have a TV but that was fine with us. It's a e nice place to come home to after a long hike. Basic breakfast is included. The food isn't memorable. This is a perfect quick overnight getaway.. As I recall it was easier to call than make reservations on-line

It was all ours as we arrived @ 11:45 AM. As there were no umbrellas we sat inside shared the wonderful vegetable frittata & caesar chicken, the chicken was overcooked & the salad needed a little more dressing. We then shared coffee & tea on the deck enjoying the beauty of Marin & conversation.

Great place to catch the sunset over the Bay, while having drinks and bites to eat! We shared a burger (which was really good!) and some small plates, while enjoying some of their cocktails and beer.

We park in the lot across from the Inn, if arriving early, or just past the Fire Station to the right, if late. Walk towards the ocean on the hike of your choice and ride the shuttle bus back - on weekends only. Stop for an expensive drink - can’t beat the location or ambiance. Almost perfect end of the day stop.

We came three times during a recent visit. The food is good and simple and the outdoor terrace has fantastic views.

Mountain Home Inn is beautifully located above Mill Valley with great views around. The menu is quite limited but serves the purpose for lunch. they have few parking spots with priority resident guests. The service was a bit slot and the staff members were constantly somewhat confused. If the restaurant is even half full, be prepared to wait for the food and service. However, the scenery is still great. The quality of food was good.

The view is amazing but the quality of hotel and service is way behind the view. I picked Room 6 over their other rooms for 2 nights, based on info provided on the website, but when we arrived we noticed they put us in another room (Room 1) without my consent and charged me extra for Room 1 rate difference, while they claimed Room 6 has maintenance/plumbing issues. Although the new room had also plumbing issues as well since the shower faucet was broken and they offered me a screwdriver to use while showering, or move to another smaller room, which we refused. While check-out, I insisted to get charged for the original confirmed rate and contacted them twice without any response or progress, it seems they don't care about customer satisfaction at all. When they charge like an upscale 5-star hotel, you expect to receive same level of customer service, which is NOT the case here. The facility aged a lot. The food quality is average. They lack enough staff to take care of the hotel and restaurant/bar. Don't recommend anything at this place to anyone.

Dinning room closes at 9pm. Great breakfast, Sunday brunch, also have had dinner here. A long drive up the hill, but worth it. We have friends who live nearby and eat here often.

We started the day in Muir Woods and hiked into Mt. Tamalpais State Park. The hike finished on the Panoramic Trail trailhead parking lot right across from Mt. Home. After 4.2 mi. of a lot of climbing we were ready for lunch and a cold beer. The sea bass ceviche, gazpacho and cold beer was great and the staff was super friendly. Oh yea, the prices are excellent too, along with the view

Great views, good menu, slow service, tough to find parking (go early to avoid crowds). The food was good and hot but a little expensive for portion sizes (though likely in line with local prices and added charge for being on a mountain). Great for lunch.

This place is pretty much all by itself on the Panoramic highway. They have a bar and dining, and the views from the patio are spectacular.

I chose this hotel because of its location on the edge of Muir Woods and was not disappointed. It's really the only place to stay if you want to be near Mt Tam and do a minimum of driving. The Inn has been operating since 1895 and has not really been modernized but it does have a lot of charm. The main floor contains the "Front desk" (actually the bar) and the restaurant, and the guest rooms are on the lower level which is essentially the basement, so if you don't like staying underground this may give you pause. The rooms are a bit dated but still charming and offered nice views into the property but not really across the bay as the photos might lead you to believe. The restaurant is wonderful and the outside deck/dining area has incredible views across the bay to San Francisco. We ate every meal there (there aren't a lot of restaurant options in that location anyway). Every meal was fantastic.
