This is our fallback restaurant. You can count on good service from the Valet Stan to the consistent fare. We have been going for more than 30 years. Other Marin restaurants have come and gone, but Buckeye has survived by quality, service, and price. Make sure you make a reservation in advance. If you bring your own wine, the corkage is reasonable.

I got this recommendation from a local friend, and it did not disappoint. The menu has something for everyone, from a less adventurous eater to a real foodie.
Fried foraged mushrooms, oysters bingo, and the s’mores pie were standouts.After the appetizers my friend and I split the fish special which was prepared expertly; a tipped hat to the saucier as well.

When this amazing restaurant opened its outside patio for dining, we took advantage of the moment for a quiet birthday celebration. Even though it was just the two of us, it was a very special moment because it was just the second time we had eaten out since the pandemic.
Meandering through the inside dining room to get to the patio, after the temperature check at the door, it felt safe clean and safe AND pleasantly occupied by dining teddy bears.
The patio tables were set up well apart from one another and everyone honored the rules to mask up whoever the masked server came around to inquire about the food, any extra needs, and just to see if all was well with us and everyone else. It was a really pleasant and memorable evening, especially with the delicious meal we were served.

After 50 years of restaurant dining in eateries and fine dining establishments all over the world, dining out simply doesn’t hold the allure it once did. That’s why our recent dinner with friends at the Buckeye prompted this review: it still has the chops that makes dining out worth the effort! Classic decor, great wait staff, fantastic food and a fun vibe. Have fun and we hope your dinner is as satisfying as ours was!

Stopped mid-afternoon for a late lunch after visiting Muir Woods. Everything served was perfect. Smoked wings, burgers, and flank steak with truffle fries. Despite the outside seating location far from the restaurant core, the service was attentive. A very satisfying meal.

We took advantage of their daily special of black cod. Fantastic dish, very fresh, cooked to perfection and served on a bed of citrus infused risotto. Service was great. We brought a nice Pinot Noir with us. Buckeye charges $33 corkage. This place never disappoints. Please bring back the Banana Foster's dessert.

What a wonderful experience at the Buckeye. We started with a cocktail in the oh so cozy warm, comfy bar. Delicious and top notch bartenders. On to the Dining room where our server, Katheryn and her team were not only warm and pleasant, they provided amazing service Wonderful.
My dish was wonderful, Petrale Sole, cooked perfectly with an herbed crust. Delicious. My wife had the Skirt Steake cooked to perfection with Frittes steeped in juices.
The charm of the Dining Room only adds to the experience in the 90 plus year old gem.

This was an amazing restaurant. We made reservations ahead of time and when we arrived we were seated right away. The restaurant was full and extremely busy.
Our waiter was pleasant. Our drinks and food that we ordered was served within minutes. The food for all 7 of us was delicious, full of flavor and cooked to perfection!
Thank you for making our sons Birthday a very special one!😊

The red booths, old beams and photos of a German feeling exterior from days gone by gives this classic restaurant some deep roots. Delicious steaks, ribs, hamburger and even more current dishes like a “light” burrata which was something off Stanley Tucci Italy show. Felt more classic steakhouse with modern twist, packed at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Bar scene lively and warm. Service impeccable . Only compliant was a family sitting near us complaining to management when one of their kids slipped off her chair .. younger child who didn’t fall was hi pitch ( like dog pitch or something )screaming and carrying on disrupting everyone in the building . Parent stating they should’ve had a booth.. couldn’t figure why management didn’t remove them.. make a reservation w your kids needs or leave them at home.. tons of families of all ages here and no other child or parent was making such a scene. We felt bad for the staff and the rest of the diners who hadn’t finished as we had. Classic parent behaving badly. Awful

Excellent wait staff, food is always served at a perfect temperature....if it's supposed
to be hot...it comes hot. Attentive service. My only mistake was once sitting at the bar, instead of the dining area, when II ordered the ribs, and, even though I asked for them to be separated in the kitchen, I didn't want to pick up and chew at the bones at the bar.
They were so delicious!

This is one of the worst restaurants in Marin. I don't understand how people have rated this restaurant so high. The service was non existent and the food lacked flavor. I had to get up and grab my own condiments because of the horrific service. Don't waste your time with this place.

Family birthday. Food good as always, service uneven & inattentive. They have crammed way too many tables in dining room & noise makes even a 4pm reservation uncomfortable. I’ve been here 25–30 times, but this may be the last. Family getting older; buzzy not needed nor welcome.

Great ambiance in wood paneled rooms. We ate at a table in the bar which was even more cozy. Nice menu selection and a price range to satisfy most budgets. Good food and great service.

Traveling in the area on business. Not complicated, looking for a nice restaurant to have a good relaxing dining experience. Good news, I found it. Atmosphere was great - upscale casual. The food was the highlight. I had the pork chop - outstanding! Desert was also exceptional. You will not be disappointed if you dine here.

Was here for the 1st time in probably over 15 years. Treated for my 70th BD.
Ambiance is so warm and inviting, with the huge fireplace in the background.
Spot on service. Efficient but not intrusive.
Minimal noise level. Tables nicely separated.
Definitely a destination restaurant.
GREAT and inventive cocktails.
Oysters Rockefeller were to die for, just wish there were more than 6, but @ $25+, we couldn't have afforded more.
We also ordered the Calamari which was a huge disappointment. The smallest order of Calamari I have ever seen. No legs, just rings.
I had the famous Pork Chop which was cooked to perfection, medium well.
But it was so odd, it was sitting on a bed of I don't know what. Not mashed potatoes, polenta. Which was also covered in some very odd coleslaw of sorts. Which didn't blend well at all with the main course. I say to the restaurant, skip this odd slaw or salad. I ended up scooting the whole serving to the side, just so I could get to the rest of the main.
Rest of the mains were fine.
We all ordered dessert.
Sticky Toffee Cake - WINNER
Butterscotch Cream Brulee - WINNER
Coconut Cream Pie - LOSER. It either had a chocolate crust or was drizzled in chocolate which completely took away from the Coconut which was mostly absent. Piled high with not whip cream, but not sure what that was either. I left half of it as for me, it was inedible.
Was sent home w/the S'More Pie, (Birthday). Nice gesture, but way too sweet.
Make sure to hit the ATM big time before you go now, like everything else, it's $$$$$
