The restaurant has a 45 minute call before arriving as they don’t take reservations. There is a small bar area. We were seated in the roofed outdoor area but it was closed in with glass/plastic garage doors so it was fine for October. They open...them up in good weather. We tried the fish walleye and trout. Both cooked perfectly. Service was good. Asked if we needed anything but also left us to enjoy our meal. Had planned to go back the next night but snow came in and we headed southMore
One of 2 restaurants in Keystone open for dinner after Labor Day. Quite pricey for the lack of atmosphere, food quality and service. If the main part of the restaurant is full, patrons are seated in a shabby, add-on area that is partially outdoors (next...to a busy road) & furnished with very uncomfortable outdoor furniture. I was served a salad with brown, rotting lettuce underneath fresh lettuce on top...my entre, Chicken Carbonara, was a pile of lukewarm, sticky spaghetti mixed with fatty bits of flavorless bacon and pieces of unseasoned, flavorless chicken...the $18.95 dinner "special"...if you're charging premium prices, you should at least serve GOOD food CONSISTENTLY!More
Very limited breakfast options in Keystone so decided to check out Powder House on the road to Rapid City - wow, what a wise move that was! Lovely setting in a log cabin type structure surrounded by pine trees. Seated immediately with drink order promptly...taken by Elizabeth, or efficient & friendly server. The stuffed French toast I chose, covered with fresh fruit & whipped cream, was delicious & filling but I ate every bite. I believe they will be closing mid-Oct for the season, but will definitely be dining there in 2022 while in the Black Hills areaMore
We asked for recommendations, and they sent us to Powder House. Extensive menu with interesting options. We were told they do not take reservations but they have a call ahead wait list. We only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were taken to...a table. The food was really good--steak and salmon. The house wine was tasty and not too expensive. The creme brule was outstanding. Excellent service. Definitely a good place for dinner!More
Upon arriving for dinner we were asked if we called ahead, our answer was no, so they lead us to an outside covered patio area. Which was quite delightful. I had the trout and I must say it was delicious. We enjoyed our dinner so...much, 2 nights later we returned. Bailey was our waitress abs she was terrific with a smile on her face at all times.More
I had read numerous excellent reviews; they were all true! We had excellent service, and even in early Oct. they were still busy. (Call 45 minutes ahead to get your name on the wait list; they don't take reservations.) Margaritas were delicious, good amount of...alcohol, and under $6. The prime rib and pecan crusted salmon were excellently cooked and delicious. If you like your horseradish hot, request it, and you'll get the pure stuff :) The only negatives to the meal were green salads filled with the ends of romaine.More
I felt so lucky to have found the Powder House Lodge Restaurant during our vacation stay in Custer State Park, South Dakota. We enjoyed this place so much that we found ourselves eating there for so many of our meals. The food was always fresh...and delicious. And they even had some vegan options, which I was thrilled about. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The service was so friendly and made you feel right at home. Loved the prices and the selection. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.More
