As my TA handle indicates, I am indeed a Culinary Snob. Having been in the food industry 30+ years, I am an avowed "foodie". My wife and I entered Volt with high expectations, and were woefully underwhelmed. We did the 15 course chef's counter experience, and split a wine pairing. That's $150 each for the food, and +$75 for the... More

The chefs truly prepare creative, unique selections; some I really enjoyed and some were just a little bit to over the top for my taste. Having been a few times over the past couple years, I have walked out each time with mixed feelings. The service tends to be a bit pretentious, which actually surprises and disappoints me each time.... More

We ate here last week. Overall, an enjoyable meal. Beautiful surround. Expert service. Our waitress was very keen to make sure we were pleased. Dinner for four (the twelve course tasting menu plus a 150 bottle of wine) was about 750.00, and so we should be pleased. Let's start with the positives: at times there was excellence. The tempura shrimp,... More

This is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Service is superior, food is well prepared and presented beautifully and staff is wonderful. You will not be sorry

The ambiance is very pleasing and subdued but upscale, the noise level is very subdued, patrons can speak to one another in conversational tones. The service was excellent and very attentive and the staff is first class. This is what is now called a small plate dining experience, you need to order at least from four different sections of the... More

Went here for an early Thanksgiving brunch with the family and we weren't let down. Went with the five course tasting menu, and it was an array of seasonal foods that didn't let down. The cocktails were unique, the service was always attentive and on point, and the food was always delicious.

We have had the pleasure to visit Volt for several years. From table 21 to stopping by in the bar. Whatever the experience, we have always been treated with respect and provided a high level of service with masterful cocktails and delicious food.

We were looking forward to a great dinner after having heard about Volt's reputation for some time and not being able to visit previously from DC. The environment is nice, in a warm renovated historical house, staff is welcoming and attentive, but food is certainly at the level expected from Volt's reputation. Most courses were average at best, dessert was... More

My wife and I have had Volt on the list of special restaurant trips we wanted to take for a while. I've been a fan of the Voltaggio brothers ever since Top Chef. We finally decided to pull the trigger and wow, I'm glad we did. That said, the fact that we weren't there for a special occasion did seem... More

We traveled from Fairfax, VA to Frederick for the week-end to celebrate our anniversary. I booked our 14th Anniversary dinner at Volt because of the reputation of Chef Voltaggio. The food was inventive and excellent. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Kudos to all of the staff, sommelier, and servers because it is obvious that they take pride in what... More

Description
VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques. VOLT's relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color palette that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.
