OK, the food was probably the best we had in Atlanta during our 8 nights stay in late July. It topped Bones and Kevin Rathbun. But the waiters are a joke and the atmosphere is something between a canteen and a night-club. You are unable...More

You've got to be the "Hals" state of mind to enjoy this place. If you want quiet, reserved or standard, then skip it...but if you want to see an institution at work, stop by, enjoy a drink and a steak. If you want more reserved,...More

My husband and I have been coming to Hal's for almost 8 years! It is our favorite "Steak House" in Atlanta over Bones, Chops, NY Prime & Mortons. Having said that, Hal's has a completely different atmosphere from the others. In the downstairs portion of...More

Hal's on old Ivy is located in the north side of Atlanta and for me it's very easy to get to. Parking can be a change, but what great restaurant isn't. Their martinis are supersized, the steaks are incredible and their seafood is outstanding. Non-smoking...More

I recently visited Hal's in the Buckhead Area of Atlanta. We heard that this was a great locals spot and, when we walked in the door, we could tell that it was popular by the wall to wall people that were inside. The menu is...More

Reading other reviews prepared me for what to expect. Is it loud, yes. Is the service somewhat questionable, yes. Can people smoke at the bar, yes. Knowing all of those things going in, still want to experience this restaurant myself. Had dinner reservations at 9:30...More

This is my new favorite restaurant. Make sure you have reservations because they stay booked. It's a small cozy setting. They have a band at the bar playing plus with everyone talking it's very LOUD. That doesn't bother me. They specialize in steak. It's the...More

I guess you would say it is business casual. I don't think you have to have a jacket for men but most men did. It was a younger well to do Buckhead crowd in their normal attire.
