Recently dined here for a business meeting with the boss in town. While it is now in the Hilton Downtown, it is the same warmth and charm of their prior location further Downtown. We had appetizers, assorted entrees and some great Italian wines. I enjoyed the stuffed quail dish, while others had the more classic Italian dishes. We all saved... More

My wife and I were in Richmond for a business convention and had about an hour to eat between sessions. No reservation required but maybe recommended on busy weekends. We ordered the specials sea bass and a beef ravioli in walnut sauce. Both were surprisingly excellent, and served hot. The portions were decent and well presented. We also had a... More

My boyfriend and I went to La Grotta for date night and it was the perfect spot! We tried the $55 per person three course meal with wine pairings. For our appetizers, we had the calamari and pasta trio. Those were spectacular! Then we had the veal and lemon chicken for our entrées. The lemon chicken was sublime and went... More

While no longer in Shock Slip (now in the new Hilton) the food is as great as ever. You will never go wrong with the raviolis or pastas and the other menu items won't disappoint. Be sure to save room for dessert.

This is a wonderful Italian restaurant right in historic area-- but they said they were moving so better call before going. The food was very tasty and the menu had many different kinds of food so everyone would be happy. The service was wonderful and the staff were very friendly. Would certainly go again, when I find out where it... More

Richmond is known for being a foodie town, but in reality most of the food is bland and forgettable. But this is not the case at La Grotta. I came here for lunch with a group of co-workers and everything was absolutely wonderful and much better than I anticipated. The Spiedino Di Mozzarella was awesome, with soft, delicious, generous pieces... More

From the moment you walk in the door there is a very special romantic feeling. The setup and decor are simply one of a kind. The service was divine. The food was filled with flavor and oh so nicely presented. This is a very special place. I am saddened that they will be moving to a new location in July... More

We have visited La Grotta a few times, most recently this past Saturday night! The ambience is perfect for couples or families. We celebrated Father's Day with our sons! We started with calamari with a fabulous marinara sauce and the Caesar salads are some of the best I have ever had! Our dinners ran the gamut of pasta (fresh with... More
