Had a wonderful meal sitting outside on a beautiful evening! Doesn't get much better than this. I had the 6oz filet and my coworker had the ribeye. They both were cooked as asked and delicious! However, the cold shrimp cucumber soup stole the show!

Eating here coincided with visiting Lincoln sites in downtown Springfield as is just a couple blocks away from them. It was a beautiful evening and we took advantage by sitting out on the sidewalk cafe. I enjoyed the corn/mushroom risotto.

The risotto was fantastic. Even though there is no children's entrees, there is a lasagna noodles with a meat sauce which helps with a more pickier eater. The rack of lamb is to die for!! It's pricy for a family. However, the old time feel...More

This restaurant could use some updating but the service was good and we enjoyed the food. We were pleasantly surprised to get a visit from the man himself Abe Lincoln stopped by to say hi and talk for a bit.

Dinner with a party of 6 was fantastic. Prompt, courteous service. A visit from the Chef. The waiter explained the specials and pleasantly answered all our questions. Great reviews of the wedge salad and Mesculin greens; an order of apparently delicious crab cakes served with...More

Maldaner's has been one of Springfield's best restaurants for as long as I have lived here (more than 30 years). It has been around a lot longer than that, as reflected in its décor. Warm and dignified, you should dress in a respectful manner. This...More

Maldaner's is a classic American restaurant of a type that's fast disappearing. It has been here, in the same building, owned by the same family, since 1884. If you love historic food and architecture you're going to love this place. It probably hasn't changed a...More

If the thought of a pricey dinner in this white tablecloth establishment seems a little scary, try the lunch. It was a little more expensive than average, but not bad, especially considering the quality of the food and service. My friend and I enjoyed lunch...More

My granddaughter and her 2 girls: 9 and 12 had an enjoyable dinner at Maldaner's, We did not except the casual atmosphere of the restaurant and enjoyed everything we ordered. A must stop during your stay in Springfield.

I have wanted to try Maldaner's for quite awhile. I had been there as a child, so my husband and I decided to celebrate our 36th anniversary there. I was disappointed when I walked in and found the restaurant to be hot and stuffy, even...More

Established in 1884, Maldaner's Restaurant and Catering is one of Springfield's finest restaurants. If you have visited The Old State Capitol, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana-Thomas House or the State Capitol, you can imagine the wonderful celebrations Maldaner's likely was a part of at the turn of the last century and to the present day. Today, under the guidance of Chef-Owner Michael Higgins, Maldaner's respects tradition while offering the best of contemporary American fine dining in our historical setting. Chef Higgins features seasonal local and regional ingredients influenced by Mediterranean composition and preparation. Heirloom vegetables, humanely raised meats and Slow Food all artistically prepared and presented. Welcome to Maldaner's in downtown Springfield. We hope you enjoy your visit each time you dine at Maldaner's.
