I've been a customer at Assimba for probably 20 years. The owners are genuine people who love good food and pride themselves on excellent service. Try the Minchet Abish, which is spicy ground lamb. Excellent flavor and absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Nice when ordered with the veggie platter. Enough food for three big eaters or four small ones.

In a neighborhood of Ethiopian restaurants, Assimba stands out. Owner & staff are very friendly and did everything they could to make sure our meal and service were top notch. Four of us were there for dinner for the first time. We ordered four menu items, all of which came together on one huge platter with Ethiopian flatbread underneath. With... More

Great food - I love the spicy chicken tibs. The owners are two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet.

My partner and I popped in for a last minute weekend night date. Beyond casual, in the best possible ways. I ate the veggie platter and chicken well past when common sense should have made me stop. Good honey wine. Generous, thoughtful waitstaff.

This is not a fancy place, but has great Ethiopian food for a very reasonable price. If you have never had Ethiopian, try one of the combo plates--about $13--and usually enough to feed two with leftovers. the food is not as spicy as you would get in Ethiopia, but the flavors are all there and the injera is authentically made... We decided to try a new cuisine that we haven't tried before and we are sure glad we did. The restaurant doesnt have a lot of curb appeal but that was part of the adventure. We had an Ethiopian beer which was tasty and went well with the food. We ordered the assimba combo that had several tasty meats and... More
