I stayed in Treme with some friends for New Year's, and with this place a few blocks away from our rental we stopped in for breakfast one day. As we walked up to the restaurant, the friendliest woman ever opened the door for us and told us she had a table waiting just for us. Most of the patrons were... More

We were on our way to go grab some breakfast on Bourbon Street when our Air Bnb host was outside. She said if we want some good food thats close by then we should go to Lil Dizzy's, which was really close to us. Its a small cafe, but very busy. They have a buffet, but we just ordered off... More

As Lil Dizzy's get more and more popular with tourists it's getting harder for local fans to get a table. We always are challenged to find little known restaurants with great food. Lil Dizzy's is one of those places. They always make you feel at home and the food is absolutely delicious from fried chicken to gumbo to mac and... More

My husband and I and a friend went for lunch on a Friday at around 11:45 and were seated within 5 minutes. The place was packed and lots of smiles! Wait staff was friendly and very helpful. We chose the buffet because we had heard the gumbo was really good! I had a small bowl of gumbo, fried chicken (I... More

Recommended by a local native and frequented by the folks who live here. Southern comfort breakfast and lunch food at very reasonable prices. Eggs, grits and bacon will set you back $7. All you can eat buffet that includes fried chicken, gumbo, and eggs cooked to order is only $15. The gumbo is full of crab and shrimp. So tasty.... More

Kiss $ss chicken. The real deal. I could have sat here all day (and more) just grazing the buffet. Ya know, I could go on and on with amazing descriptive flowing words, but I'll spare. If you're anywhere close to this place, get your $ss over there....and enjoy. ....have a thigh for me.

While walking to the French Quarter from Tremé, one of the Lil Dizzy's waitresses stuck her head out of the door and said "Ya'll looking for breakfast? We have the best food in New Orleans!" She wasn't lying. We all got the breakfast buffet - excellent food at a great value. We filled up on fried chicken, green beans, mac... More

Our Uber driver recommended this restaurant as a local favorite and it did NOT disappoint. They have a small lunch buffet with fried chicken and creole dishes and bread pudding that will knock you over. The bread pudding was crazy amazing.

First, you come to Lil Dizzy and you think you were invited to a neighbor's house for lunch or dinner. They serve amazing food here. The servers are always, checkin' up on you like, "You doin' ok baby? Need anything?" I just love that. The gumbo here is the most unique, most delicious tasting gumbo I've had compared to many... Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
