We made our way to Cafe Du Monde and I cant say how happy we were to wait the 35 minutes to get a table. The food was great and priced well. Of course we left with several bags of hot beignets just coated with powdered sugar. Just the beignets alone are worth the wait if you are not looking... More

If you feel like you need to hit this New Orleans highlight on your trip, this is a great way to do it without the hype. No wait at 9 a.m. on a Monday, versus crazy long lines all weekend at the original location. I'm glad we stopped... but honestly, the beignets weren't really that special. Denser than I thought... We drove by the Cafe DuMonde in French Quarter -- 100 + people in line. When we saw this at the Marketplace and a line of 15, we had to try it. They do not disappoint. Ordered 3 and an iced coffee -- just perfect! They really are a nice treat, not greasy or fried tasting. Just right. The iced... More

Recently was in New Orleans with my wife for several days after a cruise. Our first stop was Cafe Du Monde for beignets and New Orleans chicory coffee. It was amazing. There was a long line for a table, but it moved pretty quickly. The beignets came out really too hot to eat and smothered in powdered sugar. The coffee... More

Had to have the beignets and cafe du lait and the Riverwalk location served it up for us and the beignets were good. But what was better was Yolonda who is sweeter than a beignets and a credit to the cafe in terms of her welcoming manner. She served us and later come out into the cafe to give us... More

Quintessential NOLA experience. Beignets to die for - but eat them warm. Lines can be long. A take out line around back of the Kiosk moves much faster.

Well if you are in New Orleans you must stop by for a beignet as it is a NOLA tradition. The line, well it can/ likely will be long. It is worth the wait (think 20 mins before I ordered and another 10 before I got them.) Each order has 3 in it. Hungry, get one order a person. Want... More

We tried a couple places after Du Monde but it was still our favorite. We went on a Tuesday morning, the week after Mardi Gras, so it was not packed. They have cocoa as well as coffee and tea.

What trip to New Orleans would be complete without a visit to the Cafe Du Monde for coffee and Begniets. Wife and I visited the location at the Riverwalk. There was a long line, but the wait was worth it. Definetely try this out when in NOLA.

Can't go to New Orleans without eating beignets at Cafe du Monde. Huge lineups to get in, but worth the wait.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
