Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

During the Jazz Fesitval this year (2022) it seemed they were making Beignets as fast as they could all day long and all night long. The "Original" fried bread treat now costs three times what they did just a few years ago, but we didn't mind much. After walking the Quarter all day long it was nice to relax to some authentic street music, Beignets and hot chocolate (or coffee if you prefer) and just take in the ambiance. The table and chairs were a little dirty but they were doing their best to keep up with the amazing post-Covid traffic.

I stopped by the original location and saw about 150 people in line and decided it wasn't worth the time of standing in line to try Cafe Du Monde. While taking a walk around New Orleans, I ran into this location. It only had about 20 people in line. I had an order of the beignets and a large iced mocha. The beignets were good, but all the powdered sugar made them very messy.

This is an iconic New Orleans must see place. Everyone needs to go there at least once in their life. A tip is that they only accept cash for payment. Everyone has heard of beignets. Well this is the place to get them. It is adjacent to Jackson Square. They pretty much only have beignets and milk, coffee or hot chocolate but it is heavenly. There is often a long line when the city is crowded but today there was no wait for a table. It is a covered outdoor area where you are protected from rain but on the few cold days it may not be pleasant. The service is not great but the beignets are really great. The coffee au lait is the best. As I said it is a must do in New Orleans.

I often went to the cafe when I was in college in New Orleans. It was open all day and almost all night. They brought fluffy coffee in white cups with saucers and beignets on white plates to our table. We never had to wait in line, even though the place was busy. But now? You have to wait, take paper cups of coffee and paper plates of beignets to a messy, sugary table surrounded by people all talking loudly. Not recommended.

We’ve been to Cafe du Monde 10 yrs ago and once before. It was good then and worth the outdoor humidity. Now, everything is rushed, coffee au lait was nothing special and the beignets were over cooked, service was about getting people in and out as fast as possible. Not the best experience.

Cafe du Monde has completely lost it's charm on the NOLA Riverwalk. The service was impersonal, unwelcoming, and a bit hostile. The beignet's were tough (stale). They piled a grossly excessive amount of powdered sugar on them to the point where they were virtually impossible to eat without making an embarrassing mess. They allowed an untalented street singer to blast music into the seating area to the point of customers choosing to leave to avoid the noise. They should have instructed the busker to move on (or turn down the volume).
Overall, it was terribly disappointing compared to the Cafe du Mode of the yester-year. We went to Cafe Beignet several (blocks away) in the following days. Service and product was excellent!

There's not a lot of places in the area to get cheap breakfast, so I stopped here for a few beignets one Saturday morning. The line was at least 30 deep.
I revisited just before noon and there was no line. Taste the same as the original location.

We got here as soon as the place opened for breakfast for the world famous Beignet's (If you haven't tried them its a must), the Beignet's were fabulous however, the place was absolutely filthy. I watched as they cleaned the tables, all the sugar was going onto the chairs and they didnt clean them (Beignets are covered in icing/dusting sugar? As we were there as they opened its obvious that they dont clean very well.

Of course, a visit to the Café Du Monde is a must for any first-time visitor to New Orleans. It is a very touristy thing to do, but you have to do it because it is one of those iconic American experiences you can add to your list of travel accomplishments. You truly haven’t been to New Orleans until you have bit into one of their warm beignets and dusted powdered sugar all over your clothing. If it is your first time, you should go to the Decatur Street cafe near Jackson Square so that you can take photographs and let everyone know that you were there. If it is your second, third, fourth, etc. visit to New Orleans you probably do not want to wait an hour or two to get a table at the Decatur Street cafe, but you will probably still have a craving for a good beignet. The Riverwalk cafe is a great alternative. It is especially convenient if you are staying at the Hilton Riverside, shopping, or heading up to a cruise ship. You will find lines here, but they are nowhere near as long as the lines at Decatur Street. The good news is that the beignets and coffee are the same and you can sit at the cafe and have a nice view of the Mississippi River. My family has eaten here many times and we have always had a good experience. Also, their coffee mugs are reasonably priced and make great gifts for your friends back home.

It is like a ritual for who visits New Orleans.
We wanted to try it and, in the end, it was worth waiting in line.
So now we can say that "We also were there!"
We had the beignets and café au lait (coffee with milk).
We liked the beignets which were fresh and covered with a lot of powdered sugar
They were not that expensive.
It was very crowded, noisy and kind of hot inside.
We thought that it is a little 'hyped'.
In fact it is more a touristic attraction than an authentic coffee shop.
The service was rushed due to the long queue of people outside the door who wanted to sit at the tables.
They just want 'cash', no credit cards.
In all honesty, we would pass on Café Du Monde in the future.

We have ate at the Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter but since we were shopping in the Riverwalk mall we decided to try them out. We had the traditional beignets and they were wonderful. I liked how you could see them making. Great experience

You will not break your bank here, it will cost you $3.40 plus tax for one order of three beignets. Fried pastry which is fluffy on the inside coated heavily with powdered sugars a must try while visiting this crescent city.
The only downside to this experience is the extremely popular location in French Market which makes this place always crowded. Instead of sitting in the cafe, take it to go and proceed few steps to Mississippi waterfront or sit on steps overlooking the Jackson Square.

Stopped in for during a recent trip. We counted seven servers sitting in chairs on phones and taking up tables meant for customers. We found a dirty table and sat. We waited over 20 minutes and were never greeted and the table was never cleaned. Seemed that no one there cared. Don't waste your time!

No visit to NOLA would be complete without beignets from Cafe Du Monde. This was my husband's first visit to New Orleans and he really wasn't excited about trying a beignet (he eats his cake donuts completely plain!), but I told him he had to at least try one. I was surprised that he enjoyed it as much as he did.
We didn't get there until about 3:30 in the afternoon and, although there weren't many empty tables, the Take Out line was very short and moved quickly.
Be prepared... Cash only, but an order of 3 beignets was only $3.50.

Went to the Riverwalk by the convention center for breakfast at Café Du Monde. Has a small food court that sells beignets. Bought a batch of 3. Approximately 3in x 3in squares of fried doughnut lathered with powered sugar, served hot and fresh. Delicious. Felt the need to have to the New Orleans beignet experience and got it at a convenient location.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
