As in my 2012 review, Dick & Jenny's doesn't quite make the upper level. Our chargrilled oysters were delicious, The beet salad was good, and my wife called her black drum excellent (and it was!). My braised pork cheeks were quite uninteresting, though, and as they were mine I left somewhat disappointed.

Making a list Checking it twice Gonna find out whose naughty and nice..... Xmas Eve dinner on out of town trip and it was very nice. Most of our trip was spent eating fried food in the French quarter and standard tourist fare restaurants like Brennan's which tend to be overrated. I had eaten in this place several years ago... A wonderful restaurant. Great food, great service, great staff. I can't say enough good things about this place. I've eaten there several times and it is now on my must do list whenever I go to New Orleans. The food is eclectic but with a local flair Price for dinner for two with cocktails first and wine with dinner is... More

We made the trip out of town to this truly local spot and had a great first night meal at the start of our long weekend break. The dishes were all local and the servers were full of southern charm. the only drawback to the food was the desserts, they weren't really on the same level as the other courses... More

We were taken here by a dear friend during our visit to NOLA. I was completely blown away by the service and the delicious meals. I had a real sense of things being locally produced and all staff were very proud of what they produced...and rightfully so! The board with pickled fennel, pork turine, bread, alligator sausage and mustard was... More

Busy place because it is so good. Casual, but nice casual. Food and drink are above par. Be sure to make reservations. Easy Uber,Lyft or cab ride from elsewhere in the City.

We had a large group visit on our second night in Nola and were so very happy with our experience!. We have eaten at a few other well recommended places but this one stole the show for sure! Every person in our party was pleased with every single food and drink item. Stongly recommend the Ginger Minx drink, the Bluegrass... More

Great neighborhood feel to this restaurant. Well thought out drink specials and delicious food pairings. Highly recommend when want to get away from the crowds - depending on whois playing down the street.

I'm a local and I eat out a lot. I've eaten in all sorts of places all over town. We tried this place on a Saturday night with another couple. First of all, the place itself is "cool" and trendy - definitely appeals to the hipster crowd. Plan on parking across the street in the grocery store lot. Upscale casual... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
