Our first visit to BH and we found much to like. The service was excellent, we both had fish dishes which were prepared perfectly. It was quiet and elegant.

The service is slow and the food came out warm to cold. Best to get the buffet so you can help yourself. Only ate breakfast there so it might be better later in the day.

The best thing to say about Bourbon House is that it is open during that late afternoon period between lunch and dinner when many other local restaurants are closed. Open, that is, in the sense that you can go inside and sit at a table. Service may be another matter. Even though the place was less than half full when... More

We started at the bar with Happy Hour Oysters, The best I've ever eaten! Then we were seated in the dining room near the windows streetside and enjoyed people watching. OUr service was fabulous and the food was great. I had the Red Fish and it was amazing. My husband love the seafood stew. Can't wait for our next visit!

Our drink server, Jason, was amazing. Our food server needs some additional training or a better attitude. Tried the crab claws, a lemonade and corn and crab soup to start. Each were delish but I felt as if the pricing was a bit much.

My first visit was not so good, but they have great reviews so I returned and the service fell short of what I expected but the food was good.

Last place we visited. We were ugly, worn down and carrying luggage. We were treated no differently than someone in business attire. They took our bags and stowed them for us. Provided with 2 servers making things very prompt. The sazerac was on point and the peel and eat shrimp was amazing. We tried 3 apps and 4 entrees and... More

Close to many other restaurants like Acme, Felix's and Hard Rock cafe, Bourbon appears up class and perhaps too fancy if you aren't dressed up or in the mood. Do not let this stop you. We felt that way and landed at the bar. The bar set up allows you to sit next to the oyster shuckers and watch them... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
