This was the best dining experience we had on our 3 night visit to New Orleans. The food was delicious- Korean Ribs melt in your mouth, the tuna was cooked to perfection, and the creme brulee was the best I've ever tasted. Service was professional, and friendly.

My hubby and I both had the 4-course meal - it was a lot of food but everything was delicious! I'm always saying "you don't have to eat it all", but sometimes you just can't stop.

Walked in for lunch not knowing anything about this place. Definitely a must to eat. Oysters are out of this world. Come at happy hour and they are only 25 cents. Rest of food was great.

We went for a casual and delicious dinner of several appetizers at the bar. Two different salads were each large, fresh and satisfying. Tuna Poke was an outstanding dish, with wonderful flavors. The Short Ribs totally exceeded expectations, much to our delight! Lastly, the Barbequed Shrimp were excellent. When we get back to NOLA, we'll definitely return!

We enjoyed this meal from start to finish. It wasn't very busy (they deserved a better crowd) and service was attentive but not intrusive. Everything was delicious. Is a little bit hidden and I wouldn't have known about it if not for an old article online where Pepper from COC made recommendations on where to go in New Orleans. I... More

We went for a birthday celebration and ended up having a whole room to ourselves. Nice ambience and such great waitstaff. I had the prix fix: lobster corn bisque, escargot, rack of lamb and creme brulee. All very tasty.

Lovely dinner. We chose the 4 course fixed price menu with very nice corn/crab bisque soup, appetizers of very well prepared escargot and service, followed drum and flounder entrees. Each course was terrific. Choice of 6 deserts was plentiful. Great meal in a nicely decorated restaurant.

I was in the area on business with a colleague and we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner on our last night in town. We took a table in the bar which was unusually quiet. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions. We both had the four course Revillon dinner. We had the alligator... More

We had dinner on Christmas Eve and it was superb. I liked everything about this restaurant from the decor to the Bulgarian waitress who served us. The food was excellent and easily the best of several very good meals during our stay in New Orleans. Also the most expensive but well worth it for a special occasion. The variety of... More

My wife and I visit New Orleans multiple times every year. Given the many good reviews on TripAdvisor, we had been meaning to try The Pelican Club for some time. We were in town the week before Christmas and I made a dinner reservation about a week in advance. We arrived dressed appropriately for a fine dining establishment and were... More

Description
The Pelican Club, offering a wide range of fabulous New Orleans dishes, consists of three dining rooms and a large bar fashioned from a handsome, 19th-century French Quarter townhouse, rising from the corner of Bienville Street and Exchange Place in the heart of the French Quarter. Owner, Richard Hughes, and his wife, Jean Stinnett-Hughes, transformed a neglected architectural gem into a welcoming restaurant decorated in a crisp blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has its own ambiance, created with such diverse elements as burnished Louisiana cypress, contemporary paintings by New Orleans artists, antique prints, and the dramatic contrast of black-leather banquettes against cream-colored brick walls. Such an atmosphere is sure to make your meal feel like a truly New Orleans experience.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
