This cafe came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. The food was wonderful! The prices were a bit steep for lunch, but reasonable for dinner. (Same menu) the fried crawfish tails were great!

A couple blocks out of the French Quarter, and worth the extra walk. The Bon Ton is not opened on weekends which will give you an idea of how good it is.....they don't need the extra traffic. If I lived in New Orleans, I would go to the Bon Ton every chance I got....it would be staple for us. If... More

This is a slightly hidden gem several blocks from the French Quarter near the river. Fairly small, been in business for decades, recommend reservations. The menu is pure traditional New Orleans. Lots of seafood. Recommend the Redfish, turtle soup, and really everything else. Very relaxing atmosphere.

This establishment has everything going for it - fabulous food, attentive staff, and a wonderfully charming atmosphere. I also liked the location. While everyone seems to flock to the French Quarter, this is still in a great location just off Canal Street but in the opposite direction from the French Quarter. My husband ordered the Red Fish and I ordered... More

Our group (7) met to eat at the Bon Ton. The restaurant has plenty of staff and they are attentive. The food was excellent and the portions were large. The only negative that I have is that it is pricy.

It wasn't one of the big time recommended restaurants but I went based on a friends recommendation. I had the Redfish Bon Ton and it was fabulous.

Reading the review stating it was over priced is the wrong description and I would use expensive $$$$ as the best comment. That said, I loved it! Went with a group of people and everything was great. The suggestion of the server about some sea food appetizers were on point. I had the softshell crab and it was very tasty.... More

From a local's perspective, I expected more. Given all the choices in this city, I found it could have been far better. There were three in our party and we were there for dinner. I started with the jambalaya. I was pleasantly surprised, it was one of the best I had ever eaten and being a Boudreaux, I have eaten... More

I have often held to the quote of one Virginia Wolf. One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. Tonight I can say with sweet content that I have done so at BON TON Cafe. It was a adventure not far from the Lowe's Hotel where I am staying. I do consider my self a foodie.... More

My husband and I had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I had etouffee and he had their signature oyster dish. Accompanying onion rings were amazing. The salad was okay. The bread, however, was awful.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
