Went to this restaurant on the review of a good friend and was not disappointed. They made a grilled cheese that was great for a picky 12 year old. I ordered three small plates;beef carpaccio, grilled sweetbreads, and pork belly. All three were very well done. The beef was great with a very unique sauce and spice combination that separated... The address is at the North end of the French Quarter opposite the park, so it is well away from noisy Bourbon St. Most diners appeared to be well-dressed locals in a wide age range including single diners. The food was "fusion" type NOLA cuisine, not too heavy and well-prepared, they use lots of pecans and local vegetable. Don't hesitate... More

Happy hour menu ($5 for good pour of a more than decent Pino) well served by Dwayne who expertly explained the Chef's creatively flavored dishes. We shared delicious house-made pate on grilled bread, fried oysters and gnocchi. My favorite hangar steak is presented au poivre--delicious sauce for soaking up the pile of frites flavored with truffle oil and parmesan. Full,... More

My friend and I had brunch before seeing Shen Yuen and it was absolutely spectacular. We ordered two small plates. One with beef tartare and a cheese platter with candies cashews. We also had some biscuits with strawberry preserves and they served us complimentary strawberry cake. Every bite was exquisite. The server was super knowledgeable about the food and the... More

We were in New Orleans for the weekend and weary of the French Quarter insanity. What I wanted was COZY. What I wanted was soft lighting and a simple menu. Who finds that near the Quarter? Well, friends, we stumbled on Meauxbar. Walking by, a gentleman seated inside smiled and gave me a 'thumbs up'. Definitely the sign I'd been... More

My husband and I had dinner and drinks here our first night in Nola! We have been here for three days and so far this has been our favorite. We had the duck fat pop corn and bone marrow to start and they were both amazing! For dinner my husband got the gourmet grilled cheese which was to die for... More

If you want to take a break from traditional NOLA oysters and poboys, do check out Meuxbar. Don’t be fooled by the outside that doesn’t tell much or the location – the border of French Quarter. The place is amazing. The menu items all sounded so good, we wanted to try it all. But ended up with escargot, liver pate,... More

So our first night in NOLA we walked up St Phillips Street to Louis Armstrong Park and we dined at Meauxbar. There were five of us and we all had delicious meals. The highlight of the apps was the Pork Belly and Gulf Shrimp. We also tried the Burrata and it was delicious. The roasted bone marrow was the third... More

Description
Located on a picturesque corner of the Vieux Carre, Meauxbar is a vibrant neighborhood gem. A typical evening finds an eclectic mix of French Quarter residents, locals from across the city, as well as out of town visitors. Accessible and smart, with a unique worldview, our food and beverage menus are reflected in locally-inspired, modern bistro fare created by Chef Kristen Essig.

Our menu rotates seasonally, though some classics remain throughout: Escargot in Bone is a guest favorite when paired with an Herbsaint luge. Pork Belly and Scallops is a rich and hearty starter. Our Hanger Steak with Frites and Bearnaise appeals to those in search of a Bistro classic, while our Lamb Loin with Golden Raisins perfectly exemplifies Chef Essig's vision and style. Rooted in the old world, we offer wine by the glass, carafe, and bottle. Guests will see many familiar varietals as well as some more unique and off-beat selections.

Our core philosophy is centered around the whole dining experience: great food and service, memorable moments, culture, warmth, energy, and a celebratory feel. We want to be a part of our guests' lives.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
