Pascal's Manale is a legend in New Orleans without being anywhere near the French Quarter. In fact it is on Napoleon Avenue a few blocks from St. Charles in a mostly residential area. But the food is wonderful, especially the shrimp. While it is called BBQ shrimp, it has nothing to do with barbecue. It is heavenly jumbo shrimp cooked... More

i was recently on a trip to new Orleans and this restaurant was highly recommended to us we were really looking forward to dining there. we entered the restaurant and was greeted by the rudest hosts that I've ever encountered and after she seated us she left and us and another couple were the only people in the dining room... So many dining options in New Orleans. Hadn't been to Manale's in years. Around twenty of us in a private room. Turtle soup appetizer just average. Always loved the BBQ shrimp and wasn't disappointed; nice portion of large, firm, well seasoned shrimp with french bread for dipping. Can be messy so a bib is supplied. Bread pudding dessert was very... More

Have been to Pascal's Manale many times. Always have oysters at the bar before dining. The oysters are unbelievable in size and flavor, some of the best ever. Dinner is always a delight as well. I had the Veal Parmigiana and husband had one of the specials, Drum. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. One of our favorite restaurants in... More

The food, service and ambience was great. Very old place that has great food. Alert - the bbq shrimp comes with the heads on, so don't freak out. The rest of the meal was very good. French bread to dip in your shrimp sauce is the highlight.

The best food, service and atmosphere of ANY of the real local's restaurants. This is not a tourist trap -- it's the real deal! There are many ways to enjoy Pascal's, but here's all you really need to know: start with a dozen raw oysters at the oyster bar before sitting to eat, then order gumbo, BBQ shrimp, and bread... I was told to try this restaurant as it was meant to be old and gold. I studied culinary in switzerland and toured in italy so i had high expectations for a restaurant that has built its reputation over time. I arrived at the restaurant and walked up to the dining room where i was greeted by a rude hostess... More

A friend from New Orleans recommended this restaurant and it was wonderful. From our hotel off Canal Street, we were able to catch the St. Charles Street car to Napoleon St and walk 3 blocks through a beautiful neighborhood to Pascal's. Now in it's 100th year of operation, the restaurant is classic-white table cloths, jacketed waiter and busboy. Reservations are... More

20 yrs ago we dined at Pascal's Manale restaurant eating delicious BBQ shrimp. Forward to 2017, the shrimp, food and service still outstanding. Fresh oysters, wedge salad, BBQ shrimp and bread pudding all delicious.

What can I say, this was a great culinary celebration last evening. I had a guest with me, we chose Italian food and wanted to visit this great place which is a tradition if you live here. The hospitality is beyond imagination, the oyster bar is ready as you enter. Great location in historic uptown area. In the midst of... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
