We came to New Orleans to experience a Revillon Dinner and selected Galatorie's. I had heard of this restaurant for years, but we had never eaten here. Just a note, gentlemen must were jackets, which they have if you didn't bring one. For starters we had the Shrimp Scampi which was 5 shrimp served over a baguette slice with sauce.... More

Mirrored walls, high ceilings, legendary waiters, and legendary food. For over 50 years I've been eating Shrimp Remoulade, Turtle Soup, Oysters Rockefeller, trout amandine, and puff fries. Still legendary. Loved by locals, almost impossible to get a table downstairs for Friday lunch.

still the best in NOLA. we were celebrating my friends birithday and while our waiter, tim, and food were outstanding, the shout out goes to our runners dominic and demond. men of very few words, but they provided impeccable service and their attention to detail was amazing.. it was if they read our minds...they anticipated our needs and were so... Crab cakes were delish! As I was told by the waiter, it was 90% crabmeat! I ordered two from the appetizer list. The blood Mary was kind of watery, my husband's steak was good. Cream brûlée was gooooodddd! Our salads were also delicious! Would recommend!

We really enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent and the good old traditional southern service was impeccable. This place is an institution, it is important to book. A sanctuary of calm from the madness that is Bourbon Street

Galatoire's restaurant is New Orleans best restaurant. It's been around for more than 100 years. If you want a special, romantic meal, it's the place!

I love this restaurant and will be back. We booked a party of 5 and were seated upstairs-which is very quiet. Ask to be seating upstairs. Downstairs is very noisy, but it is where the ambiance is. Food is excellent and super fresh. All seafood was top! The wine selection is humongous. Wine bottles go from 35 to thousands of... More

Bring a jacket guys! This New Orleans legend is nestled among cheap college bars specializing in $5 hurricanes. But don't be put off. Ambiance is great. 3 birthdays & 1 anniversary were celebrated by the entire restaurant. Food is amazing and ample.

Having lived in New Orleans for several years we have tried so many restaurants. Galatoire's always remains on the top of the list as a must go to favorite when visiting the city. On this latest visit our party of six had an amazing lunch. From the holiday atmosphere to the service and food everything was simply wonderful. If you... More

Bourbon Street in the French Quarter is not my favorite: it can get pretty sleazey. But step out of the sleaze at 209 and you enter another world altogether. Galatoire's is a famous. old-school New Orleans restaurant. Service and ambiance is old-school - waiters wear tuxedos - even at lunch. Once inside you cannot view the street - that is... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
