When in Jackson Square area, you would not expect a fine restaurant serving sophisticated food amongst the revelry. Stopped at Muriel's for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised to enjoy delicate turtle soup, a hearty gumbo, and a fresh salad. A pearl amongst the...More

My husband and I were told to come eat here by some friends that had visited New Orleans. We were not disappointed! We started with the mushroom gnocchi, which was delicious. I got the filet and my husband got the pork chop. Both were wonderful....More

Love this restaurant. Food is delicious, atmosphere relaxing and service excellent. A very pretty restaurant in an old Victorian style. Be sure to see the table set for the president ghost nightly. Crepes with goat cheese / cream cheese mix were divine. Tuna perfectly prepared...More

Went here for my wife's birthday dinner with two friends from NOLA. We made reservations before we left England and the place was humming. This is a well-established restaurant right next to Jackson Square. We wanted something classically New Orleans and I guess this delivered....More

Although everything was delicious, the crepe appetizer was superb. The crepes were filled with goat cheese, and the crawfish sauce was incredible. A real melt-in-your-mouth experience. I could've just eaten that and would've been totally satisfied, but, being a foodie, I had to experience each...More

My husband and I were in New Orleans for my birthday staying with friends. We asked for recommendations for restaurants for that evening and of course there are loads, as New Orleans is such a great place to eat. I wanted traditional and there was...More

Mushroom Gnocchi was sooooo good. A little pricey but the staff and history of Muriel's is worth it. See the Table for the Dead and go upstairs for excellent views.

After being seated, we waited until a server finally came over to our table and said someone would be with us shortly. Waited again and finally were given menus. After more wait time and watching others be seated, receive menus, water, bread and had their...More

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty
Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port
of call for folks in search of a good time and a great
story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs

around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

Pretty lax, I would recommend at least a collared shirt or a button down (no sneakers) for a man, something nice, dress, or classy jeans and top for a women, no flip flops.
We noticed that one reviewer said that the restaurant is loud. Is it loud? We are looking for quiet and romantic. If this isn't quiet and romantic, upscale dining, please make suggestions.

This is definitely romantic, linen napkins and all. The small outdoor looking space near the bar is delightful. The other rooms are larger with a very nice decor. New Orleans for sure. Commander's Palace in the Garden... More

The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers New Orleans classics like Gumbo, BBQ Shrimp, Oysters "Muriel", Turtle soup, Fried Gulf Shrimp Po-boy, Crabmeat Imperial, Shrimp Remoulade & contemporary Creole cuisine like Pecan Crusted Drum & Wood Grilled Tuna while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks & appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer & The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic & checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville & when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's best bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, & is the perfect spot for an intimate conversation & a drink amongst its plush surroundings.
