We truly enjoyed our fine dining brunch at Commanders palace! We knew Commanders was a "must do" spot for foodies and Emeril fans from way back .. we didn't expect the super service, friendly attitude, amazing food, great brunch live music (despite all the reviews supporting same). We were surprised that We enjoyed it this much ... hubby thought it... More

I can't say enough about this restaurant. The wait staff is fantastic and take time to ensure the service is A+! The food was superb and the bread pudding soufflés, just wonderful. This ranks as one of my favorite restaurants in the USA.

I'm not sure what more can be said about CP.......everyone should eat here at least once! This was a 70th birthday celebration for my husband, and I couldn't have chosen a more perfect spot for our visit to NOLA. The service is impeccable and the food outstanding! We had the shrimp and tasso for an appetizer and the soup1-1-1- a... More

Over the years of many visits to New Orleans, one restaurant stands out as the one we want to return to and that is Commander's Palace. The atmosphere is special and service has always been outstanding. We have enjoyed both lunch and dinner here but strongly suggest reservations ahead of time if your schedule is tight.

We had a 1:30 weekday lunch in the main downstairs dining room. Service led by Jeff was thoughtful, relaxed, and professional. There is definitely some awesome training of staff here as the service through and through was great and had just the right vibe. We had delicious turtle soup, rabbit gumbo, very light breaded fish,, and gigantic and savory pulled... More

As soon as you approach the Commander's in the beautiful Garden District you know this is going to be a special meal . As you enter you are greeted by 2 or 3 smiling hosts and your reservations are checked and you are escorted to your table . As you pass through the restaurant enroute to your table you are... More

A friend told us this was top priority. She was right. Our 6pm reservation worked out perfectly despite my having thought it was too early. We were the first to be seated. I had requested the Garden Room which was wonderful. Large windows overlooking the courtyard and the magnificent live oaks. Sara, the captain of our server team of 3,... More

Still my favorite restaurant in the world even though I waited too late to get dinner reservations for this trip. :-( Had dinner nearby and was welcomed in at CP (with my colleagues) for after-dinner drinks in the courtyard... fantastic staff... best anywhere. And next time I'll remember to make reservations as soon as my travel is booked!

We had a nice dinner and good service. The rooms were all crowded and several large parties made is quite noisy. The turtle soup was really good.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
