If you're staying at the Hotel Modern, you would be crazy to skip this bar, specializing in old timey cocktails. The old fashioned cobbler is something I am really going to miss. The bar has a speakeasy feel to it, with lots of velvet and couches. It's surprisingly unpopulated, maybe due to its location? Anyhow, great drinks.

Not sure why there are two entries for Bellocq in New Orleans, but pretty sure it's the same one...and it's CLOSED! There is no bar in the Hotel Modern, although the photographs of it on this site are really nice.

This bar came attached to our hotel so I avoided it until one night I wandered in for a late night drink. Cocktails good atmosphere laid back. Very nice place to hang. Our bartender was great suggesting alternatives and keeping us refreshed. For a laid back drink in the warehouse district it is great

Stopped here Friday night via recommendations from some locals. I heard from two different people that I had to check it out and to make sure I sat with the young guy bartender named Matt. I love a good drink but am usually disappointed with terrible customer service from these "mixologist" bartenders. That was until I met this dude Matt.... More

I highly recommend that you make this bar a part of your New Orleans trip! It's off the beaten path, sophisticated but not pretentious, and has a very relaxing atmosphere. I am so glad I had the guts to stop here alone. I also recommend The Italian Stallion! BEST COCKTAIL I'VE EVER HAD!

We stopped because we were staying at The Hotel Modern and heard it was a great bar. The wood work is beautiful, but the bar stools are uncomfortable metal things that don't really work well for a short person and the sofas and chairs are old and musty. We only had a glass of wine each which were fine. No... More

I had a cocktail here last week with another visiting friend who knew the spot. This bar is known for their "cobblers" which are cocktails made with shaved ice...like grown-up snowcones! The space is dimly lit, good for couples and others who aren't wanting to read books and do jigsaw puzzles. Our drinks were well-made and reasonably priced. Give it... More

This was my fist time here. I sat at a table. Nobody greeted me. I sat at the bar for 10mins before the bartender decided to greet me.

Bellocq is one of the many really excellent cocktail bars we hit. They have nice decor with comfortable sofa nooks but we sat at the bar. As with Cane and Table I felt like I would have like to eat something but we were on the way to dinner. But it is very polished with a high level of attention... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
