Beignets and cafe au lait in a crowded open-sided building across from Jackson Square. Get there early if you go.

Well, it was worth the travel to try these although you have to eat them fast because they do not taste that good when they are cold. Very sweet and basically just full of sugar powder. I bought a box to take home and tried my best to follow the instructions. Took a couple time to get it right but... More

Incredible atmosphere - music and food. Really felt as though you were in a little bubble of France! Amazing food, you have to have the beignets hot! Waited about 10 minutes to be served and to get a table, but well worth it!

Royal is a nice street to stroll after having our fill of crowded Decatur St. We tried a beignet. Red beans and rice suited me. Muffaleta was essentially a sesame seed roll served up as a ham sandwich. Classy looking musician was the real draw. It was straight out of Tennessee Williams. Good weather allowed our lunch in a garden.... More

Fresh out of the oven Beignets crispy but not chewy had little dough in them. It did have a lot of powdered sugar on them so get plenty of napkins! Place does fill up quickly, so get a table first or you'll be stuck standing up.Good service.

They were way better than Café Du Monde. I would recommend this place instead of the tourist trap. The beingnets were super fluffy and crispy. Most delicious!

The beignets are more flaky than Café du Monde and I like these better. Very tasty. But man, they are slooooow. They just don't have much capacity, so plan to wait if they're busy.

We chose NOFB because of the long line at Cafe DuMonde, so glad we did! Cafe au lait is delicious, beignets are tender, flaky and memorable! Service was friendly, fast and we were on our way to tour and enjoy the city!

We've been to New Orleans several times and usually go to Café Du Monde. Today we didn't feel like the wait or the crowds and decided NO beignets are going to be pretty much the same anywhere. WRONG! This place offered the usual traditional beignets, but they also had peach-filled, shrimp and crawfish stuffed with crawfish sauce, and pig-nays (stuffed... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
