My wife and I found this place while looking for lunch near the waterfront. The creole combo and banana foster pie were very good. Good service, too.

Well, I thought my friends recommended it but they recommended the Gumbo Shop, where gumbo truly is king. Realizing the error we made, we had breakfast, which they serve until 3 pm. They make a mean Bloody Mary. The eggs with oysters and a side of grits are amazing, and my husband's po Boy was overflowing with oysters. If you... More

You just can't go to New Orleans and not have or even try Gumbo, Jambalaya & Red Beans & Rice. Unless you just don't care about Cajun Foods. And we just love Cajun foods. And the place to enjoy all these foods is at the Famous Gumbo Pot restaurant located at 600 Decatur St., Just a short walk from the... More

Well, I brought my fiancé there for a PoBoy (honestly because the line at Mother's was hours long). Huge disappointment. The hostess was obviously having a bad day. Embarrassing... as I had bragged about Louisiana hospitality. But ok. We all have bad days. Ordered a shrimp Poboy, a roast beef Poboy and a side of fries. I think the single... More

For a first taste of Creole cuisine it was totally underwhelming. The service was not friendly and the food was cold. You live and learn.

My wife and I had just returned from a cruise and decided to have breakfast before our return home. We stopped here and were immediately seated and our drink orders taken. The smell of shrimp creole permeates throughout the restaurant. We had our breakfast served within minutes of ordering and it was a little pricey but the portions were enormous.... More

My two boys and I came here after a friend suggested it. Overall, it was very expensive for my taste and the food was sub-par. My older son got an omelet with skillet potatoes and he said nothing was seasoned. He only ate 1/2 of it. My younger son loved his pancakes, but what 6-year-old doesn't love a stack of... More

Opted for here for my first ever po-boy as restaurant appealed from the outside seating area. Ordered the beef one and the bread was fresh, large and full of beef but.... it wasn't proper gravy on top. Being a Yorkshireman that's what I wanted and love but this was more jelly like and not dripping in gravy which I expected... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
