Loved this place. Not fancy but good Irish food and drink. The shepherd's pie was one of the best I ever had. Definitely get the Irish coffee with the infused Irish liquor; it is out of this world

Wonderful atmosphere and great Irish food. The shepherds pie was out of this world. The infused Irish coffee was to die for! I am not one for Irish coffee but this one was remarkable. A 2"thick layer of fresh whipped cream on top - delicious!! We were there for lunch and service was good and everyone was very friendly.

We shared the crab, spinach and artichoke dip, which was phenomenal. Then I had the potato leek soup and a half a corned beef sandwich. Our waitress was great, very friendly, just sorry I don't remember her name. The bartender also made an incredible bloody mary. Food, atmosphere and drink all fantastic!

This place has really gone downhill. While the food was good and the atmosphere delightful the staff could not have been worse. No hostess to greet you, until you try and seat yourself. Took forever for waitress to dump water glasses at your table. Food arrives an eternity later and tepid. Obviously not the kitchens fault as the waitress just... More

This is always on the list of places my friends and I choose when we want to go out. They have classic Irish dishes like Guinness beef stew, but they have some fun twists on the menu like the Irish egg rolls (which are DELICIOUS). I'm upset they got rid of the Pot of Gold dip. A friend came back... More

The Irish House offers a friendly atmosphere and awhile to see a waiter or waitress appear. (They may have been filling the job of the cooks.) My husband and I ate there one time together; I went once alone to do take out and we tried a third time to find something on the menu we wanted as we waited... More

Visited for an evening meal, great pint of guiness and loved my clover chicken, atmosphere was a little quiet but I'm sure it picks up later, good guitarist.

We walked to it for a late lunch. Place has a nice old Irish Pub feel. Great food and good size servings.

It was just perfect! My fiancé and I stayed for Halloween in New Orleans and this lovely restaurant was our perfect place for our daily brunch! Irish music all day long, just amazing! Betty, the bartender, is the best, she is just great and we will definitely come back again. We tried several dishes such as the Shepherd Pie, Leek... More

The Guinness was excellent, served cold and perfectly poured. The waitress was pleasant, polite and kept nodding at me. My partner then explained that she did not understand my Irish accent, that made all three of us smile. There are some lovely old pictures and photos on the walls, although some were not related to Ireland. The 1903 article of... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
