This place was a great find. It is unique and interesting. This is the type of off the beaten path places that I love. We liked this place so much that we returned the next day to have lunch again. The first time we had a cheeseburger po boy, muffuleta, a side of pasta and a side of greens. We... More

I used to hate red beans and rice but theirs was outstanding! My wife had a great chicken salad sandwich. There are 3 tables to sit at. The people are friendly and delightful. A great deal especially for those with a limited budget.

This is not your New York style deli. This is an New Orleans original all unto it's own. It's whatever you want it to be. It can be where you pickup a pre-made sandwich or snacker on the run. It can be your blueplate special place. You can get your meat and two here if that's your thing. On Mondays... More

Love this place. I can taste the love in the food. Most affordable and service can't be beat. Located in an old hardware store there there are still items you may find on the wall. Even after being away for up to six months at a time, they still remember my name upon my return. Always offers a variety of... More

We were visiting the National WW2 Museum and were ready for lunch. Didn't want to eat at the museum restaurant, so I looked up sandwich shops in the area. This was at the top of the list. And a five minute walk from the museum! So we walked over. Boy, are we glad we did. It's a little store that... More

This place has local NOLA character running through its veins. You gotta check it out. It's only two blocks from the WW2 Museum. The owners are local. They've had this place since 1985. Each day has different meat options and veggies. The deli is always available. They serve breakfast and lunch only. I highly recommend Fridays as it's seafood day.... More

We happened upon this place by chance, asking a local where we could get some food before visiting the Confederate museum. He recommended this place and wow! The smells when we entered foretold of something amazing to come...The best red beans and rice in NOLA! The food is all prepared right there! Super friendly staff and owner! Don't miss this... More

My family stayed on Julia Street. Louisiana Products was right across the street. We meandered across and stepped back in time. It was like visiting your favorite aunt's house. We ordered a basic breakfast for less than $5. We sat at the table with the staff and watched people from the neighborhood come in and out for coffee and breakfast.... More

My husband and I stumbled upon this tiny place trying to get out of the rain. It's literally in a space about 20 yards wide. There are 4 tables as you walk in next to the self-serve chicory coffee "bar." Head to the back, past the cash register, to order fantastic red beans and rice or other local "fast food."... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
