People kept saying we must try it. So we did and was not terribly impressed. I realise it is all down to choice but we were not over eager on the beignets and the coffee to us was nothing special. This is one of those places you have to try and make up your own mind but we will not... More

Cafe Du Mode is the best little spot to enjoy family conversation, laughs, coffee and the famous french doughnut!! So delicious! Get there early or you have to stand in a long line, but you will be happy you waited.

While shopping at the Outlet Mall on Market Street we were delighted to see that Cafe Du Monde had a cafe in the mall. OMG! best beignets and ever!! We all enjoyed them with coffee and late. Always our favorite stop while in NOLA!!

If you're visiting New Orleans make sure you visit Cafe Dumonde. The beignets are so good you'll want to go back for more!

Yes its commercial, over priced and busy. The tables and chairs are covered in powdered sugar and the wait staff are often curt and rude. But I knew this from my last trip to New Orleans in 1998 and I still couldn't wait to go there! I got there before 7:30am and had plenty of options for seating. I had... More

We were so looking forward to having a beignet at Cafe Du Monde. The place was packed and we found a seat right away. The coffee was average and there was more icing sugar than there was beignets. I was really looking forward to people watching and enjoying the band performing on the street. Unfortunately, there was a lot of... More

Excellent beignets served with lots of powdered sugar. Waited about 30 minutes to get in but enjoyed it once we were there.

Without a doubt, Cafe Du Monde is a New Orleans must! Loved the beignets, loved the frozen coffee! The place was always really crowded when we stopped by, but service is pretty quick. It is a cash only establishment, so be prepared. I would definitely visit again.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
