My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch yesterday... this was only our 2nd time to eat there with our first being the year after Katrina... the food was as good as we remember but what caught my attention this time around were the prices...We paid over $33 for 2 small po boys and 2 glasses of sweet... We popped in about 30 minutes before closing, and there was no wait at all. My daughter and I got the shrimp po-boy and my husband got the oyster po-boy. We all loved it. The fries were delicious and crispy and the po-boys were done to perfection. The place does not look like much, but go in and eat. The... More

First time visiting, we ordered a catfish/shrimp Po boy dressed, so so good! Our kids ordered the roast beef, meatball and burger, not a bite was left! Take a number when you enter, each order is taken and made with TLC, enjoy with a local Arabita!

I define this place as a "Must-Eat" restaurant in NOLA. If you visit, please stop by Domilise's and grab a fried-shrimp po-boy! You won't regret it. Seating is an issue at this place and you will wait to eat... but it's totally worth it for this New Orleans' treat.

My favorite is the roast beef with swiss cheese melted and dressed. For 48 years I have been going there. The shrimp poboy is awesome with a little kick of hot sauce. After many years of traveling this is my favorite sandwich place.

The best Po Boy I have ever eaten. Trip advisor had it closed on Thursday, but it isn't. The only day it is closed is Sunday. This will be a stop when in New Orleans.

Not sure why they get mixed reviews. Staff was friendly and the service quick. Trying something different I went for a roast beef poboy. Wow! What a surprise. Really tasty and the gravy was goooood. My only regret.... I shared some of it. Selfish I know. Try the roast beef and the gravy!!!

Friends tipped me off that if I wanted the authentic New Orleans Po-Boy, Domilise's is the place. They were not wrong. We shared the large half-and-half, (shrimp and oysters.) As if this place needs another five star review. Had a good time talking with the ladies behind the counter. Thanks for the bus info!

This was worth every bite. The staff is amazing so friendly. The best po-boys I have ever had. The Mannings eat here so you will see lots of pics on the walls.

People take taxis from French Quarter hotels to this hole in the wall sandwich shop. This place is a must stop, 70% for the food and 50% for the atmosphere. Yes it doesn't add up, but this is New Orleans. Cannot go wrong with any of the fried seafood po boys or the roast beef. Watch the ladies work behind... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
