If you're looking for a much needed break from 'college food' in Madison, here's a great alternative: Russian pelmeni dumplings. Small restaurant with maybe 5 tables and a counter with barstool seating, clean and well kept. You order and pickup at a counter, where they boil the dumplings and prepare the meals. It's one of those places where they only... More

I was in Madison for a few days and happened to find reviews for Paul's when looking for restaurants online. Russian cuisine is usually hard to come by unless you're in a big city, so I was excited to try this new cuisine. The hours are also a lot later than a lot of restaurants in the area, so it's... "healty" food. cheap and easy to buy and eat. The place sells only boiled dumplings and mostly for carry out. If you're thinking about a picnic by the Mendota lake about downtown or feel extremely hungry but don't want greasy food, this is for you. I recomment them with all the fixings. (siracha, curry dust and cilantro).

We stopped in here for lunch on a Sunday. The menu is simple - pelmeni, which are dumplings. You have your choice of potato, beef, or a mix of the two, and you have an option of a half order or a full order. You can get them topped with butter, curry powder, sweet chile sauce, and cilantro (the works... More

Its kind of hard to find. Its worth the effort though! A little place, friendly enough, with a simple menu of simple goodness. (I'm of Eastern Eurpoean heritage, so finding this place for me was a little bit of heaven). The pelmeni come in both meat (my preference) or potato or you can order a combination. Smothered in tumeric, siracha... More

I was absolutely thrilled with my half order of mixed potato and beef dumplings with the works. The quality was superior and service was fast. Just keep in mind that this place makes pelmini and nothing else. To say this is a Russian restaurant would be like opening a french fry place and saying it offers French cuisine. Nonetheless, what... More

Seriously, bomb. Been here twice, once late at night, slightly under the influence... and today, with my wife and 6 year old. Both outstanding. So good. So, so good. I'd have taken a picture but it was gone too quickly.

Simple menu, but amazing flavors! Recommend the works toppings if you like spicy! Love these dumplings

I recommend the half mix with the works. I ordered full order and I am stufffffed!!!! But is excellent. The whole family loves it, even my picky eater. The chef cooking is very enthusiastic and dances with the music, which we love.

Stopped by here on our way through Madison. It was recommended by several locals last time we came through so we had to try it out. So Glad we did, it was GREAT! They only serve 2 items on the menu beef pal'meni's or potato pal'meni's. (I suppose an argument could be made that the mix of the two gives... More
