My brother-in-law's favorite restaurant, so he had the rehearsal dinner catered by the food cart. I tried some of everything and it was all delicious. Any meal that includes plantains is a hit with me.

I stopped by the food cart after class. I have also been to the restaurant on willy street. I ordered two of their empanadas. One with chicken and spinach, and another with pork and queso. The food was incredible. They were two of the best empanadas I have ever eaten. I will certainly go back. To top it all off,... More

Pros: Outside dining with great people watching seats. Their salsa was pretty good. Cons: There weren't enough broken chips for the amount of salsa they give you. It took forever for the server to stop by and get our drink order and even longer for the drinks to be served. The menu is rather limited. Probably a half hour after... More

Felt like tasting something than Mexican? This could be the place. Since it's summer, it's actually nice to sit outside. Waiters were (young and) inexperienced, a bit awkward in their service, like they just don't know what they're supposed to do with customers. However, they're still polite. Prices of food compare to the portion is a bit on the higher... More

My husband and I were looking forward to our dinner out at the Cafe Costa Rica. Our last dining experience, at the previous location, was very enjoyable and tasty food. This visit was unfortunately not good at all. FIrst of all, we walked in to an empty hostess stand. There was no bell to ring so we just stood there... More

This little place has also been known as El Rincon Tico. The chef Thony "Mango Man" Clarke prepares Central American dishes with his own twists. This isn't Tex-Mex fare, it's better. Open from 4:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday through Thursday and 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday this is a good place for a fine dinner. This is... More

Need I say more?! Great food! Enjoy their outdoor patio weather permitting. Drinks were a little expensive but unique and tasty.

I want to preface this review by saying I am very pro indie restaurant and I try really hard not to hammer anyone too hard on Tripadvisor. Tha being said, I can't go back to Cafe Costa Rica after this last dining experience. Rather than drag the readers through all the details, I'm going to give a could of quick... More

We had never been here on all our previous trips to Madison, so wanted to give it a try. The chicken dish was great, with the sauce, although very thin, flavoring the salad on the plate very nicely. The rice/beans were tasty. I didn't think the portions were very large, and could have definitely eaten more. My dinner partner had... More

My husband and I love Cafe Costa Rica. Our favorite dish is the Island Special (I get mine with patacones). Tony offers plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options as well as awesome drinks!
