Amazing restaurant with modern Indonesian cuisine set within a stunning and intimate atmosphere. The high ceilings, large windows, ambient lighting and landscaped interiors really made our dining experience a little extra special. The food was fantastic, and the cocktails were great too; would recommend the Bebek Goreng (crispy duck pancakes) and Babi Gianyar (Balinese baby pork ribs). The service was good, when I booked online I had mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday dinner and they surprised him with a happy birthday dessert. Would recommend to book in advanced as it gets busy in the evenings. This restaurant is fine dining, so on the pricey side, but would highly recommend if your looking for a romantic night out.

If you are going to Bali and want to experience real fine local cuisine, this is your place! The place is 100% Gramable from their architecture to their delicious and delicate dishes. If you go, I highly recommend you to try the Babi Gianyar (baby pork ribs), the Babi Goreng Medan (crispy pork belly), and/or the Pangsit Lobster (lobster dumpling), the staff is really friendly and will help you with all your doubts. During our visit, it was my partner's birthday and they gave us a complimentary Bday Chocolate Cake (that was amazing!) plus they sang Happy Bday in English and in Indonesian :D It was a truly amazing experience, 100% recommended...

My wife & I wanted to treat ourselves with our short visit to Bali, so Merah Putih was our first & we weren’t disappointed. The architecture and ambience of the restaurant is magnificent and the food, staff and service were all fantastic. We were very taken by the variety of dishes offered on the menu, so went for a seafood theme, ordering Starters, Entree & Main, with a cocktail to start & Chardonnay with the meal. Frankly this was too much, as the portions are very generous and although we shared the main, we struggled to finish, so beware, don’t get too enthusiastic with your ordering. Although expensive by Bali standards, the experience is totally worth it.

Food is amazing, there is no doubt about. We had the octopus for starter, was melting in my mouth! The lobster dumpling and soft shell crab were also delicious. Main course was good, the prawn was huge! Panacotta for dessert, following the recommendation of our waiter. Place is beautiful, very well designed. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the service. It was good, but not what you expect from a michellin star rated restaurant. Waiters had to be prompted few times for our orders but still loved the experience and would defo come back.

We had dinner here on our second night in Bali. Friends from Australia recommended this place to us to try as they rated it 10/10. We would definitely have to say we agree. The Lobster Dumplings are a must have for a starter. We then shared the Glazed Beef Cheek chilly and West Sumatran Lamb Shank curry with rice. To finish we had to try the Banana Pancake with homemade ice cream and burnt caramel sauce and also double espresso coffee. Have to agree it was 10/10 for us so we will definitely be back next time we return! :) :)

This is very upmarket for Bali and is a bit like being in an upscale Western restaurant. Food was all amazing as were the cocktails. It really is a dining experience and we enjoyed it immensely. I thought the service could be a little better for the price you pay. Had to try get attention several times for more drinks and even once when they brought more water they didn't top up our glasses. It was fab but not quite the five stars.

We came here as it was highly recommend, but we left quite disappointed. It was ok. Pretty bland for Indonesian food, stupid birthday songs going off all over the place. Starters were the high light and I must say the cocktails were fabulous. Food wise however we were not impressed. It was ok...but that's it. Won't be back that's for sure! We thought this was fine dinning, but there were little kids here and their parents were dressed like they just came off the beach. Having eaten all over the world, the way they are positioning themselves as high end simply doesn't match. Quite sad actually, as this was out last night in Bali and we wanted it to be special.

One of Bali’s premier Indonesian cuisine restaurants is Marah Putih in Petitenget, literally translated in English means “Red and White” just like the Indonesian flag. This is one of those restaurants you want to be careful to not over order. While they do have a “feed me” option which takes away any decision making, everything on the menu looks amazing and I can not say a bad thing about anything we ordered which included 3 small dishes (prawn & fish dumpling, the chargrilled baby corn and the soft-shell crab) and on top of this we ordered the whole chargrilled fish with ginger flower, a side of sauteed local greens, chili and garlic and steamed rice. My concern about this restaurant which we did address with them directly on the evening we dined, was that we felt pressured to eat quickly. Literally after our order was taken a small bowl of complimentary soup arrived and almost immediately all three small dishes sat on our table going cold while we attempted to finish the soup. We had every intention of ordering a bottle of wine with dinner but given we’d not finished our cocktails by the time entrée was completed it was not worth it. Unfortunately, the shine of the wonderful cuisine was dimmed by the need to rush us through the experience.

The food was so delicious that we visited twice during our stay in Bali. The first time they were very busy and offered us a space in the lounge/bar area which was cosy and comfortable for dining. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated with an impressive wine room. The service was great and the food was just amazing. We tried the lamb shank which was beautifully prepared, tender and literally just melted in your mouth. The nasi goreng had the perfect blend of spices. The desserts were good but not my favourite. This is a definite stop if visiting Bali

Good food with good portions for sharing. Come early and you get to see daylight how the restaurnt looks like and during night time when lights are switch on. Something I really hate about is, they charge you for sambal (chillis) at 150K!

Hello DrAnarchy, Delighted to hear that you enjoyed your evening at Merah Putih. As we offer the soto (soup) on arrival, complimentary for all our guests, we unfortunately do have to charge a nominal Rp.15,000 (USD$1) per sambal - just to clarify not 150k (USD$10) as stated in your review. Our sambals are chopped & prepared by hand so a charge is necessary when ordered in addition to the complimentary sambal that is served with most of our dishes. 🙏🏼

It’s being a few years ago I last visited this place due to covid. I always make it a point to dine in this place when I comes to bali and also sing big praise of this place to my friends. However this trip prove to be a little disappointing on the food. Not sure if the head chef has change but it’s just not exactly the rich in flavour like before. Place and service have not change abit, it’s all still in top condition. Pork belly prove to be quite disappointing

Excellent food. Not cheap by Bali standard but very reasonable in Australia dollars. The atmosphere and interior are beautiful, attentive staff who a welcoming and friendly. We reallly enjoyed zucchini flowers, soft shell crab and deep fried snapper. Staff photos on coasters a lovely touch. Suggest you book.

We've been to this restaurant many times. It used to be famous for its suckling pig but the food this time was on another level - by far the best food we've eaten this trip, and would undeniably stack up against the best in Sydney or Melbourne. The Beef Rendang croquette and zucchini flowers were an outstanding start - followed by home made noodles, lamb shank and pork belly. We couldn't eat it all even though we wanted to. Decor is fantastic. Service is efficient and friendly. Recommend highly.

I booked online and mentioned that I'm a vegetarian. When I arrived there was a vegetarian/vegan menu on the table for me. The Bao was amazing. The papaya and pomelo salad was ok and the tapioca dumpling dish was nice (touch too salty). The pandan rice and Sambal/Acar was awesome! They reassured me that the Sambal doesn't have shrimp paste. Despite the website stating that this was a adult restaurant, we had a 6:15pm dinner. They prefer if kids under 6 dine before 6:30pm. No highchairs or kids menu. Staff were friendly despite my 2 year old being unsettled. Awesome atmosphere. Very attentive staff.

We booked for one dinner and once we had been, book again to return that night in the restaurant. We love this place and all that we tell of this special location that you are not even aware of how awesome it is inside, once they go, they too wish to return to dine or have lunch at where every you drive past. Yes it is an Indonesian menu but if you are not into spicy food, they have lots of dishes that are not spicy at all. I on the other hand love the spice and ask for fresh chopped chilis for every meal and they bring out not only the chopped chilies, the also bring out the Sambul and this too is spicy and great to eat. Love this place and cant wait to book another holiday to Bali for Xmas 2023 so we can come back to this location to enjoy another range of great meals.
