I wish we had discovered this place on previous Bali trips as the food is absolutely amazing - obviously similar in quality to the excellent Merah Putih, given the executive chef, but with a smaller and more intimate setting and extremely attentive waitstaff. We had the lobster dumplings in laksa, crispy duck rice pancakes, local mushrooms, and a whole reef fish and it was all so flavoursome. This was paired nicely with an Australian riesling, and the price was around 1 million IDR - exceptional value for food of this calibre. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed Sangsaka. From a value stand point we thought it was much really good, in some ways it was better than Merah Putih.
Food is for sharing so you can enjoy many different choices. Dishes are inspired by traditional food but with it's own modern touches. Typically when restaurants do this they charge an absurd price, it is nice to see that they do not.

What an exquisite find! This restaurant is small, high end, with delicious morsels on offer. We had a variety of entrees to sample and they were amazing in taste and presentation. Main meals were also sensational. Best traditional food in Seminyak at the moment!

I have to start by saying that I used to be a great can of Sangsaka. I thought the QPR was great. Good high end Indonesian food, at fair process. Not an everyday experience, but good.
In December, we noticed that things are different depending on whether the owner/chef was in the house.
Fast forward to last week. We are excited to bring our group of friends from AU to the restaurant that we had been gushing about. These are people who enjoy a good meal, are willing to pay for it, and come to Bali often.
So, we sit down for reservation - a pré fixe two hour seating. (FYI - we find out that the owner/ chef is of prepared his new restaurant that will be opening soon).
After a bit of a curfuffle, we get started and order drinks and the pré fixe. The food status coming out quickly, without the usually ceremony and time between courses. Plates are dropped off by staff two or three at a time, plates are picked up before everyone is done, so that it is over in about an hour. There was no space or time to get the staff to slow down and make space to breathe, check slowly, or have time between the dishes.
I was seumbahyang and the meal was less than satisfactory. Now, instead of building another group of patron, who will tell thir friends, they have list local customers and left a bad taste in potential new customer.

This has been one of our favourite restaurants for a long time. When we found out Bali was going into lockdown we were so worried we wouldn't be able to eat there on our trip to Bali, but the take away option is absolutely delicious and fantastic value for money - which Sangsaka has always been.
The takeaway option is more than enough for two people, but we added a few extras as it was our wedding dinner. The beef, the laksa and the duck were all stand out meals.
We always recommend this place to people and can't wait to dine in and have the tasting menu again as soon as we are able to!

May i simply say what an excellent presentation and preparation of some exciting dishes prepared and catered for at our friends birthday a few days ago at Bereban.
Not to mention the location was remote proving a further challenge for the Chef and his team.
Simply Yum Yum Indonesian Fusion Food.
We cannot wait to come to the restaraunt for further culinary delights again and again.

This restaurant if most definitely a fantastic place to spend the evening.
I partook in the 8 course tasting menu at 600k ++INDR / $70 AUD.
The whole offer was loaded with beautifully presented plates that were
loaded with predominately local produce.
Great bang for your buck.Don’t miss out 11/10!

We just happened to go to Sangsaka on a Wednesday evening and discover that it is Dumplings night. For IDR 250k you got to sample 7 0r 8 dumplings plus a small serve of a chicken dish plus beef cheek. We wouldn’t have chosen some of the dumpling choices if we were choosing from the normal menu and were pleasantly surprised by the fact that we enjoyed every option. Great variety in the taste, filling and texture of the dumplings. The other dishes were also very tasty.

Interesting modern takes on Indonesian cuisine. Sangsaka exceeded our expectations - will certainly return. Our little starter, somewhat mis-named “mushroom tart” was the weakest item we sampled. The yellow fin tuna starter is a little like a tuna tataki or poke… but with different/distinctly Indonesian flavors - very tasty. The whole market fish was grouper, whole fish that was easy to deal with, was a little on the dry side but excellent with the sauce. Rice gnocchi were interesting and delicious (we are fans of Italian gnocchi so are a little judgmental). The broccoli/greens/garlic side was probably the tastiest dish of all, and one of the best broccoli dishes I can remember having. Service is good. Highly recommended!

we dined with a group of 5, and chose the degustation menu which did not disappoint. the cocktails are beyond awesome. this restaurant is a must do in Bali.
the restaurant is expensive for Bali standards but super cheap for the quality of food you are eating compared to Australia. the five course meal was about $60 AUD EA.
Aaron the chef never disappoints with his menu choices.

Still my favourite place in Bali .. we discovered this place a few years ago and it’s only gotten better, the food is really clever. Indonesian flavours with amazing unusual ingredients . I love the tasting menu as you get to try so many little unique flavour combinations.. it’s very well done.

This is a slightly out of the way place, but worth the trip for their “Modern Indonesian”.
They had no problems catering for gluten-free with most items, outside the dumpling and noodle section, available, or able to be modified.
The Tiger Prawns, Quail, Barramundi and Duck Breast were all superb.
Very good service, nice food, and a lovely restaurant.

This is our third visit to Sangsaka - we have been twice this week as the food is amazing. We had the mushroom tart, calamari, quail dumplings, beef cheeks, pork belly, chocolate tart and panna cotta - they were all very tasty.
The sulewasi sour cocktail was also delicious and it was nice to have a reasonably priced glass of wine with the meal.
Staff relaxed and approachable.
Highly recommend.

We had a terrible evening here. It started with having to ask for a vegetarian menu. I find that extremely unusual. The waiter then only delivered half of a starter, and only after asking did the rest come - but then at the same time as the main course.
Some of the food tasted like nothing, the vegetarian nasi goreng had an almost raw egg with almost transparent egg white on it, which was disgusting.
During the night we had to throw up several times - not a good outcome of an evening in this restaurant.
But not only the food was bad, but also the service, which was very slow and not very attentive. Added to this was the loudness in the restaurant. We were sitting in the entrance area and could hardly talk. In addition, there was a family sitting next to us whose child was loudly watching videos on his mobile phone.
All in all, we would never go there again and definitely cannot recommend the restaurant.

The best food my partner and I have eaten all year. Not only in Bali but this beat all Australian restaurants too. The food here is simply incredible. Every single thing we ate was full of flavour and like nothing we had ever tasted before. We ended up going twice to show it to some friends as well. Couldn’t recommend going here more if you are in Seminyak. Great ambience and incredibly lovely staff. It is quite fancy but the prices are so reasonable and we ended up eating quite cheap. Couldn’t speak more highly of this restaurant! :)
