A spacious restaurant in a historical downtown building with a lovely atmosphere. Food is upscale but tasty. I had lunch there so my choices were mainly sandwiches, but I was pleased with my meal. The hand-cut fries are delicious!

Glanced at the menu outside and decided to try it. It was early so we were seated right away. The atmosphere is ok - seemed like it’s a restaurant that’s been around a long time. We didn’t want a big meal so decided on salads....More

Had dinner with a large group, most vegetarians with a few vegans. The chef was accommodating and offered not just a “Sarah’s supper” vegetarian option, but also a vegan zucchini boat that got rave reviews at our table. What our group did not expect and...More

This may just be my experience/opinion/observation, but Liberty Oak seems to be pretty well known throughout the city. The problem is that it seems to have a reputation for just being there for a long time. Or maybe it has a reputation for being “pretty...More

I apologize for any inconvenience. We had politely asked every guest to limit their dining experience to an hour and a half to be respectful of other reservations as Valentines day is the busiest day in the restaurant industry. After 2 hours and 15 minutes...More

The positive thing about having jury duty was the idea that I would be able to eat lunch at Liberty Oak. I’ve been many times and have always been pleased with my meal. Happily, we were let out of jury duty early, but rather than...More

Our food was good. My choice was filet on a bed of risotto. Quite good and filling. Everyone seemed pleased with the entrees. Our only complaint was the wait staff. Early on, they were great, but after we finished dinner, we were ignored. We finally...More

Description
Liberty Oak Restaurant and Bar is a family owned restaurant operated by Chef Kristofer W Reid. Liberty Oak has been providing great tasting, innovative American cuisine with top notch service for over 35 years. It is located in the heart of downtown Greensboro with a convenient parking deck beside it. We are recognized as one of the city's favorite gathering spots. We occupy Greensboro's oldest commercial building (circa 1883), complete with a historic tin ceiling and original oak wood floors accentuated with photos of historic Greensboro. Longtime food critic John Bachelor cited Liberty Oak as "The restaurant that started it all for Greensboro" by being the first to offer innovative, freshly prepared and moderately priced American cuisine. Named by Southern Living Magazine as one of the top "204 food finds in the south in the "uptown foods" category. We offer a full bar, patio seating, Saturday brunch, and a space for private parties. We now offer catering! Call for resevations.
