In a very small place tucked into a busy section of Chestnut Hill you will find Oishii Sushi Bar.The place is not good for large parties, children or claustrophobic people.Yet they serve the best in town.We recommend everything on the menu.We live in the area and have found take out to be the best option for us.If you can make it... Pretty good sushi for a local place in Brookline. The fish is fresh and the rolls are tasty. I think that the quality is similar though to many other places and the portion size per price is not the best. Definitely not to take away from the quality of the sushi, it is excellent, but not so excellent to warrant... More

It is a small restaurant with a few seats, not suitable for big families or children, in this case take out may be a better choice. Very simple environment but they serve a high quality sushi. Everything is fresh and delicious. Scorpion is one of my favorites.

Okay, first point, the place is teeeeny. You're probably going to have to wait for a seat at the bar. The atmosphere is "sitting at a sushi bar watching a guy make stuff." If you can accept that, Oishii is terrific. So here's what you need to know. 1. Eat straight sushi and sashimi, Japanese-style. That means nigirizushi, sashimi, and... More

Having been in Tokyo a few weeks earlier, we were interested to see what Oishii Sushi Bar had to offer. We went for lunch and were able to get the last seats at the Bar. I ordered the Sashimi Special, which had three large pieces of tuna, salmon and hamachi plus miso soup and salad which I changed to Oshitashi... More

This has been a neighborhood gem for years The quality and innovativeness of their food is unparalleled in the city. The only problem is that they are such a small restaurant it's impossible to get in for dinner snow or shine. I resolved to having takeout which is still superb

Our children provided a fabulous sushi dinner last week for my husband's birthday celebration. Every bite of food was fantastic! We did take-out. The order was plentiful and everything was gobbled up. I highly recommend this restaurant for their ability to create beautiful and delectable sushi.

Oishii in Newton is nothing like the Boston Oishii. Much smaller . Actually cramped. Service at the bar and one table that is usually shared. The service is quick but not that courteous. The food is excellent. So if you like Sushi , it is the place to go in the Newton area. Prepare yourself for good food in a... More

Visiting friends in the suburbs of Boston and had a craving for sushi. Oishi is a small place - 1 or 2 tables and a bar that seats something like 12ish. The two of us sat at the bar and had sushi/sashimi platter (had the usual suspects e.g. tuna, salmon, tuna maki, eel, shrimp) California roll (decent), the salmon sashimi... More

The place is small (16 people maybe) but well worth wait. Superior service and sushi. Best in the area and one of the best I've ever had. Thank you to our waiter, Peter, and the chefs for a fabulous experience.
