I think the two things that bring many of the tourists to Cueva is that they are open more hours than maybe any other restaurant in town, and they are BYOB (with the only liquor store in town right across the street). The food is traditional TexMex and service can be slow if they are understaffed.

One could alternate between here and Lupita's and never go hungry in Fort Davis. Outstanding food in the crossover New Mexico/ Texas style. Real friendly service, too. Looks inauspicious, but the locals are all here. The building will likely be hidden behind pick ups. Always a good sign.

We stopped late in the evening (around 9PM) after visiting the McDonald Observatory. We had not eaten since breakfast so we were so happy to find anything and were fortunate to find a great little Tex-Mex Restaurant. They actually locked the doors a little after we arrived but treated us very well regardless of the time. My wife had chicken... More

Traveling through the area on several occasions has allowed me to visit this restaurant a few times. While some people may expect something original or outstanding, this is one of the restaurants that is a mainstay to an area. It provide good food for a good price. And some live entertainment as an extra. We have stopped here in the... More

We had lunch at Cueva de Leon. We found the food to be excellent and our waitress could not have been friendlier. Great experience!

The pricing was reasonable. We went on Saturday when they have an all you can eat Mexican Buffet. Because we chose to order from the menu rather than par take of the buffet we had to wait 20 minutes for our fajitas. when they arrived they were very dry and did not have a lot of flavor.

I stayed in Fort Davis two night and, on my second day there, I passed Cueva de Leon on my way to Davis Mountain State Park to take sunset photos. As I went by, I heard some jumping music and decided to stop there on my way back if the music was still playing. It was, and I did. "The... More

For my one night in Fort Davis I chose to eat at Cueva de Leon. It could do with a bit of an update inside, but I think the meals more than make up for that! I had the fajitas - the servings were so big I don't even think I ate half my meal! Great service, very helpful and... More

Inside seating was hot so we sat on the patio. It took 15 minutes before we were brought menus and had our drinks orders taken. Only had tea or water to drink. Out of chicken. Our food was delivered without silverware. We were told they were washing some. By the time I got a fork my food was cold. We... More

We were told this was the best Mexican food in town. The chips were greasy, salsa too hot, and all 3 of our meals were tremendously over salted.
