I like to find the oldest restaurants when we travel. This one seemed to fit the bill for Philadelphia. Name change from Bookbinders but the neon outside still says that. There is a bar with tables and then a dining room . We opted for...More

Great place for an ale and a walk into colonial America. I did not eat... but the food looked great.

This restaurant is located in the site of the former Bookbinders restaurant. Reviews indicated it was living up to its predecessors reputation. We walked out. The most appetizing thing on the menu was the burger..for $18.00.

7.28.18 Really sad as the place is no longer called B.B. so it is really not the legacy place everyone knew. The old bar is serving seafood but the restaurant part is closed up, only the olde Bar remains open to the public . Legacy...More

Great prices at happy hour for both food and drinks. (5-7 PM) Highly recommend the $1 oysters, the buffalo cauliflower and the turtle soup.

The Olde Bar, located in Philadelphia's landmark Old Original Bookbinder's, is a contemporary oyster bar and cocktail lounge steeped in the city's nautical and culinary traditions. Serving oysters on the half shell, alongside a smart menu of modern reimaginings of traditional bar snacks and a comprehensive cocktail and spirit list, The Olde Bar is at once a tribute to the city's storied past and an updated version of one of our most beloved dining spaces. We're paying homage to the original traditions that made Bookbinder's a landmark in Philadelphia. It's an important responsibility to live up to the history of the building and the expectations for the space. We're going to do our best to recreate the nostalgia of that place and time, but with our own spin. - Chef Jose Garces Join us for dinner or stop in for happy hour to enjoy buck-a-shuck oysters, $5 bar snacks, and drink specials!
