Reading market is a must see - but be prepared for crowds, a little chaos, and some long queues. The variety is great, but I'm not sure the many 'best in America' claims are really on the money. Highlights for me were the donuts, the grilled cheese, and the chocolates.

Fun, bustling market. If there is one place to visit on a short visit to the convention center downtown, this is it. Opens early for breakfast and closes at 6pm. This place has everything from soup to nuts. Great chocolate, donuts, biscuits and gravy to sandwiches, hoagies and gumbo. Soul food to die for and fresh fish that made me... More

Tons of food places. But what impressed me were the produce stands. Red raspberries for 99 cents. Colored peppers for 99 cents a pound. Compared to my local supermarkets, these prices were 1/4 their normal price. Other fruits and vegetables were cheap too. But NOT lousy fruit. Nice and fresh. There were exceptions though. The bananas were on the expensive... More

There are plenty of prepared food places here as well as meat/veggies etc. Wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch farmers offer their food too. Walk around - enjoy and view and then get something good to eat.

I went with my family of seven. You can find just about anything you could want to eat. Everyone ate from a different stand and not all were good, but the majority of them ate delicious. The desserts were all just darn good!! There is a donut stand near one of the doors that has the best donuts I've ever... More

While Little Italy in Manhattan is losing ground to China Town & South Boston's ol' Neighborhood is turning into Condos... the Paisanos of the North-East can find some good, old-World comfort here! There's a good mix of Delis, upscale Dining & Pizzarias... plus a nice blend of some authentic German, Polish, Chinese and Spanish-style Cuisines distributed throughout the Market. Conveniently...
