We were planning a night out with friends to celebrate birthdays. There are 4 if us, and a friend called to make reservations a few weeks in advance. It took 3 calls to get the reservation. Then 4 days prior to our reservation, they called...More

Wife and went there for my birthday. We dressed up to fit the time period. Was fun. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Period cocktails were great and strong. No watered down drinks here. Food was excellent. Had the market fish and Red Snapper, both excellent....More

This is the kind of place you take friends, who are visiting, to show them a cool experience. The atmosphere alone, from the unassuming, shady doorway to the entire lantern lit den...this is a dining experience. The food is superb, the drinks even better. Be...More

The food was good. Nothing over the top to write home about. The drinks were really the appeal of the place. Every single one we had was delicious and period appropriate. Reading the menu was difficult since it was very dark though. Oh, and don't...More

We had first gone to the Bookstore Speakeasy a few years ago for our anniversary, fell in love with the place, enjoying both the atmosphere and the food. Recently, we returned and unfortunately, things have really changed and not for the better. Apparently, it’s under...More

Like Morty said on Seinfeld: "cheap fabric and dim lighting that's how you move fabric." Well the bookstore took this philosophy and applied it to food. Thoroughly underwhelmed by this hip, no substance basement bistro.

When I made my reservation I was asked if all members of my party were over 21. I would call them and ask if you choose to go there. We personally wouldn't go back.

No real "dress code"...we were in jeans/nice tops, but there were women in dresses/guys in dress slacks too. Just very comfortable atmosphere...
